lie n die
[Read the article: Cut n run vs. lie n die]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The entire dialogue is about political gain. The Republicans cannot afford, having supported Bush on nearly every policy except those that threaten their votes back home; i.e. Social security reform, to not walk in lockstep to Karl Rove, our very own Goebbels.
They are circling the wagons and using their strong point, fallacy as it is, of being strong on National Security. Meanwhile the Democrats, showing their usual impotence in the face of a wounded foe cannot unify with a common theme and hence play into the Republican’s power play. How can the Democrats appear strong when they cannot even agree on a unified position?
I heard Kerry this morning and he made great points, too bad he didn’t have the stomach to be like this pre-election and now it is too late and unfortunately as much as I agreed with his points, divisive.
Hillary is towing to the middle line because she knows without doubt that she will be tarred and feathered as bleeding heart liberal should she win the nomination for President, hence her reaching out to a middle path regarding abortion and supporting the war. If the Democrats allow her to win the nomination they might as well hang up their respective hats and concede defeat. They hated Bill but they hated Hillary even more.
The Democrats need to go back to the smoky back room and work on a strategy that utilizes the growing public discontent and while they are at it, reclaim the flag, being an American and our future.

[Read the article: Smelly Pitts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maybe our corporate greed then for the wealthy has to do with too many of them playing Monopoly as children.

the army of one
[Read the article: Iraq, Iraq ... hey, look, terrorists in Miami!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Joe,
As a New Yorker, who saw with my own eyes the airplanes and fall of the towers, I don't wish anyone to experience what I did, waiting days to find out if one of my wife's relatives was dead, seeing for weeks the posters searching for lost and presumed dead ones on nearly every lamp post or subway stop. The sense of dread that permeated the air for nearly all of us for weeks, months, years: to this day when I hear a slew of sirens and emergency vehicles my blood pressure rises and I get tense.
Then to be held hostage to bogus Orange Alerts and hype. To be corralled like cows by the police for marching against the buildup to the Iraq war, thanks Rudy, won't forget that one, which was our right by the way!
To have innocent people arrested for walking the streets near the Republican Convention and then have the majority of cases dismissed, thanks Mike, won't forget that one either.
This administration has proven time and time again to be incompetent, to instigate a war, an illegal war at that when it didn't finish the job it should have done in Afghanistan, when it ignored Katrina, et al but uses every chance it has to illegally spy on American citizens phone records, bank account information, etc. and drums the drum of war over and over again questioning my patriotism.
When it can't arm the soldiers there properly, won't give them the numbers in forces as many generals requested to at least do the job correctly right or wrong as the war might be.
This administration has NO CREDIBILITY or burned whatever it had.
I'll keep my leftnut home but if you support the 'cause' so much why don't you take your rightnut and volunteer.

[Read the article: Iraq, Iraq ... hey, look, terrorists in Miami!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You are an idiot who knows nothing but hyperbole and have no idea what I believe in. You are limited to a smaller version of Coulter like bullshit and in future I will avoid reading your slant on things because you bring nothing to the table.
As it is now, the army is lacking troops- I suggest you take your ass to the closest recruitment center and enlist now.

re: gay marriage reduces aids transmissions
[Read the article: James Dobson: Gay marriage is like slavery, only worse]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That may very well be true but many of the Christian Right view HIV and AIDS as a curse and/or plague sent by "God" as punishment against homosexuals for the 'wickedness of their ways.'
Unlikely that they then think far enough ahead to see how gay marriage could save society or at least reduce HIV infection because they just don't care. So much for christian love and charity.
Sadly it is just another drum beat of propaganda used previously with great effect to get out the 'right' vote.
