The Thai press was full of stories about Thai cooks and kitchen help also being threatened with being tossed out of the uK.
Having just returned from London I can tell you that you don't want to flee there after the election. It was shocking how expensive things were there. Maybe it's not as bad in other parts of the UK.
When I saw this story on the news and in the paper this morning I gave up. This country is going to hell. The people voting don't care if it goes to hell. The media doesn't care if it goes to hell. So I have decided that I just don't care anymore either. When the moronic majority elects McCain in November we will finally see the total and utter destruction of what is left of our economy. And the Constitution's destruction will be completed.
Maybe then people will finally pay attention...but probably not.
yeah, I gave him a lot of money during the primary campaign. But his votes this summer have definitely quashed my enthusiasm. I will of course vote for him, but it is harder to justify sending him more of my money. Maybe it's time to consider giving some money to the party. Now that McCain picked his crazy religious zealot running mate it might be time for a re-think.
Let's hope Charlie asks her about this in his interview. My guess is that he won't bring it up at all and it will end up being a total puff piece and give her a chance to talk about her family instead.
"You haven't heard a word about getting serious about green and alternative energy ..."
Last time I checked offshore drilling doesn't have anything to do with green or alternative energy. So he is quite correct there.
If the best we can come up with is her husband's 20 year old DUI then she ought to sail through this who thing without any trouble.
Instead of talking about that the focus ought to be on her apparent vindictiveness and crazy right wing christian views. The attacks should be on her policies. Not on her family struggles.
The scary thing is that people seem to have swallowed McCain's story about how great she is. Watching tonight's BBC news was very disheartening. As long as people don't bother to do any critical thinking or research we are doomed. The uninformed electorate in this country is leading us straight down the drain.
they should settle it by arm wrestling or maybe jello wrestling for the men. Or a series of American Gladiator style games.
so how long is this video? Could it be made into a 30 second TV ad? That seems to be the only way anyone gets any other media attention. Sounds like these guys are just preachin' to the choir at this point. Or are they hoping it goes viral somehow?
I personally tune all of these ads out now by both sides. When one comes on I change the channel. I have already made up my mind. I expect most people have. Both sides do an awful lot of distortion of the truth i not outright lies. Two more months of this will be excruciating. Think of all the good that could be done with all of these hundreds of millions of dollars. Certainly it would be better spent than fattening the bottom lines of TV stations.
I tried watching a little boxing since NBC seems to want us to watch it so bad. It is on seemingly 24 hours a day on the cable channels so you don't have much choice if you are not watching during live event time. Anyway the scoring is so non-sensical that I turned it off pretty quickly.
All of these judged sports have their problems. Perhaps there should be no judged sports. If you can put a clock on it, or count the goals scored...but then again look at sports with referees like the US soccer team getting knocked out thanks to a player being sent off in the 3rd minute of the match. Or the ridiculous penalty kick called in the NED-JPN match, and maybe that's not any better. I guess that leaves us with swimming, track & field, shooting, and maybe the racket/paddle sports.
Bob Barr is one of the biggest hypocrites on the face of the earth. When he was in Congress he was all too happy to impose his political opinions on others. He will be lucky to get 1% of the vote nationwide. I expect it will actually be even less.
I think it is understandable to a certain extent that former US Olympians will have a somewhat vested interest in the US team. But I will give Daggett credit for just loving gymnastics. He praises the Chinese and talks about them with awe at every turn. Last night he said something to the effect that any of the three Chinese gymnasts would be far and away the top performer on any other team in the world. He talked about their vaulting saying that no one else in the world does as difficult routines.
I will say that some one must have gotten to Cynthia Potter and slapped her around for being too negative. She used to relentlessly pick on every dive pointing out minute flaws. She is much more effusive these days. In fact I think she was a little too forgiving in last night's synchro on a number of occasions.
