shocking!

what's shocking is that anyone was actually watching the Orioles broadcast or listening to what Thorne said.

lowering expectations

Talk about lowering everyone's expectations! No more talk about democracy on the march. His inarticulateness catches up with him quite often, but this sounds almost like he's finally admitting defeat.

why not...

I've never played basketball so maybe it's not possible, but couldn't the jump shooter who is being walked under somehow manage to stomp down on this Bowen fellow's foot with all of his downward force. If you know he's coming under you it shouldn't be that hard to use your heel to inflict some pain. Or maybe an elbow.

dirty mouth?

I don't get he headline. I read this fairly carefully but I don't see where his dirty mouth was in evidence. He didn't tell anybody to go f$@% themselves.

wow

It's scary that one of these simpletons may end up as our next president. So is Giuliani trying to say that he thinks we were attacking Iraq BEFORE 9/11 happened?

Wednesday, May 16, 2007 07:18 AM

here's the quote from Rudy

"That's really an extraordinary statement," Giuliani interrupts. "That's an extraordinary statement, as someone who lived through the attack of September 11, that we invited the attack because we were attacking Iraq."

It seems to me that "because we were attacking Iraq" implies that either Giuliani or Paul thinks we were attacking Iraq on 9/11. He didn't say "because we had attacked Iraq".

But of course bin Laden has used our presence in the Middle East as a justification for his group's actions.

ultimately

it doesn't really matter all that much anyway. He'll just end up with a big fat paycheck at some think tank instead of being put in jail where he belongs.

Specter

When has Arlen Specter ever been right about anything?

Why would Gonzales quit in the face of a basically meaningless "no confidence" vote? He hasn't quit in the face of the mounting evidence of his crimes, the low morale at DoJ, the resignation of so many of his subordinates. As long as the president want's Fredo around he's not going anywhere. The WH knows there's no way he'd get another toady through confirmation, so they have nothing to gain. Plus more evidence of their crimes would be easier to uncover without Gonzales in charge of the stonewalling.

Vs

My guess is that anyone who really cares about hockey (and I think it is more than a few dozen) already knows where Versus is on their cable system since that is where they have been watching all of the other playoff games. The real bummer was losing the HD when the switch happened because that weird channel that sometimes shows the same programming as Versus in HD was showing golf or an informercial or something.

CL final

The Champions' League final should be live on ESPN2 at 2 PM on Wednesday.

I think at the end of the 3rd period on Saturday the play by play guy gave a very speedy explanation that they had to go to the Preakness but the game would continue on Versus, except for the people in Buffalo who would stay with the game instead. If you blinked you might have missed it.

too cynical?

Maybe I am too cynical, but it seems to me that the Dems, from a political point of view, want to keep this Iraq disaster going on as long as possible. This is Bush's war. It will be tied to him and the GOP no matter what. If it keeps going until the next election do you truly think the voters will hold the Dems responsible for it? I don't think so. They are going to keep blaming Bush. And that is good politically for the Dems.

this could get good

The implosion continues. I imagine her shots will not go unanswered. Once they start turning on each other the whole thing should collapse fairly easily.

I thought for sure it was CDG

When you said world's worst airport I thought for sure you were going to say Paris CDG. Granted I have not had the travel experience that many have had, but my transfer through CDG was among the worst travel experiences I have ever had. My flight from Luxembourg was a little late, parked out on the tarmac to be bussed to the terminal, long security lines, non-sensical layout, stupid bus system between terminals, more security... I ended up missing my connection even though the plane was still there and the door was open. One woman was so hysterical they finally let her board so I was actually happy to miss the flight. The Washington Post's travel blog had an informal survey like this a couple of months ago and the consensus seemed to be the CDG was terrible. I think some travel agent group had ranked it as one of the 10 best in the world or something and we all cried foul.

For "best" surprise I would say Tampa. Since they fixed it up it is actually quite nice. Free wi-fi throughout the terminal, relatively quick check-in, the little trains that go from the landside main terminal to the airside terminals are quick and fun... And the best part is it takes you away from Tampa!

why aren't you on these shows?

You should get yourself invited onto Hardball to put Matthews and friends in their place by pointing out reality. I suppose you might only get invited once though.

Fareed Zakaria?

I'm just curious as to why you say Fareed Zakaria is a conservative. I would have said just the opposite. If anything he seems fairly middle of the road/liberal to me. Or maybe he just seems like a realist.

Tucker

That Tucker sure has a potty mouth. He's going to hell for sure.

Wednesday, June 6, 2007 02:36 PM

how about old people?

And is he also saying that elderly folks and widows/widowers who will not be having children should also be denied the right to get married?
