I'm reading Living History as we speak, and I did notice how often she describes herself as a Northerner, and her "northern ways", in order to make her appear smart & enlightened compared to the hillbillies in Arkansas.
Now that a folksy, down-to-earth persona is needed (according to her pollsters, apparently), she's calling herself a Midwesterner?
Except that mine comes from Hillary Clinton.
Sounds like Dick Cheney to me. Anyone who publicly calls for a pullout from Iraq is always accused of inspiring our enemies. Sounds like the Senator from New York is no better.
Sorry, Hillary, but this is America.
Puh-lease! Hillary took cash from Abramoff too! (http://www.townhall.com/MyBlog/CreatePost.aspx?ContentGuid=df06197a-05d5-4bde-99c7-cec3e4ebb51b)
Don't tar Bush with that brush if Hillary is just as guilty. How convenient to leave her connection to Abramoff off of that smear.
I saw the movie last night (partly because of this favorable review), and the Kangaroo character reminded me of Hillary Clinton, in that she was so successful in stirring up hatred and vitriol against that Elephant because he dared to have hope.
Hillary brought her teenage daughter into a war zone that was too dangerous for Bill to visit.
Hmm, kinda reminds me of the time that Michael Jackson dangled his kid off of the balcony so that the press could get some good pictures.
Either Hillary should be nominated for "Worst Parent of the Year" or her story is bunk.
"rather elitist" and
"I don't think it's something we should abandon"
are the only quoted words in this article. The least you could do is provide the full sentence.
He either created or greatly expanded it in his first budget, if I recall.
Will we now see Hillary claiming that, back then she was against this tax(a la her current claim of opposition to NAFTA) when Bill was ramming it down our throats?
A "narrow majority" of DEMOCRATIC voters think it's not an important issue.
It's not a big stretch to assume that a much bigger majority of Republican voters would think otherwise.
A strong majority of Republicans + an almost majority of Democrats = a significant issue.
He was hysterical on the Carol Burnett show!
I would expect Salon to hype race-based campaign tactics by Republicans (Willie Horton, "Obama is a Muslim").
Seeing a story about racist Democratic ads like this covered in Salon gives me comfort that Salon actually does care about issues, and doesn't simply slime Republicans, but look the other way when Democrats engage in the same slimy, racist tactics.
"Some conservatives have suggested this is a flip-flop. It's not -- Obama said he supports states making their own decisions, and in this case, he'd like to see Californians make the superior decision in support of equality."
- sound like a line out of a Tom Tomorrow cartoon!!!
Sorry, Barack's previous position was pro-civil unions, but against gay marriage. This is definitely a flip-flop. Here's the clip from Hardball:

"Get out of that. We're done with that. How are we going to project forward?" the Nebraska senator said. "What are we going to do for the next four years to protect the interest of America and our allies and restructure a new order in the world. ... That's what America needs to hear from these two candidates. And that's where I am." -Sen. Chuck Hagel
John McCain was wrong to vote for the war in 2003.
Barack Obama was wrong to oppose the surge in 2007, and has been wrong to call for immediate pullouts of our forces from Iraq over the past few years.
Both have shown bad judgement when it comes to Iraq.
Just like Sen. Hagel, I believe that we should stop fighting the last political battle, and chose the candidate with the best plan to bring peace to Iraq (and to the US & the rest of the world, by extension). Can Obama's immediate draw-down, to be completed within 16 months, accomplish this? I'm not sold, but I am listening.
A spill from an offshore rig would be relevant to whether additional offshore drilling would be safe.
Tankers are used to transport oil from wherever the oil comes from, whether from Saudi Arabia or from Venezuela, or from offshore rigs.
A tanker from a foreign location is just as likely to have a spill as one from a local location.
This story is totally irrelevant.
only serve to prove John McCain's point in the "Celebrity" ad.
All I can say is "Freedom of Speech, R.I.P"
Barack's text message went out at 3am, the same time mentiontioned in Hillary's famous ad. One wonders whether Hillary was on Obama's distribution list, and was on the receiving end of that 3am phone message, just like in her commercial.
Congratulations to you, AsperGirl on the rare accomplishment of contributing an original thought to a message board! I haven't seen this angle in any of the news articles to date, and haven't heard it brought up by any of the talking heads, either.
The article mentions that Biden has two sons.
One of his sons (Beau) is soon to be shipped out to Iraq, but the author doesn't mention what the other son (Hunter) does for a living.
He's a Washington lobbyist!

... that Conservatives have more class.
1 The nurse either accidentally or intentionally pulled out the patient's IUD.
2 The nurse immediately 'fessed up to the patient.
3 The article doesn't say, but it's safe to assume that that the nurse (or another nurse) re-installed the IUD before the patient left the clinic.
I don't see how an anti-abortion nurse would be accomplishing anything by pulling out women's IUDs and immediately 'fessing up. If she was doing so without informing the patient afterwards, I could see this case having merit.
