You wrote, "Am I just an aurally impaired brute, my hearing ruined by exposure to

shoddy sound?" The answer in a word is 'Yes."

Having spent considerable time building tube amplifiers and listening to them I can honestly state that there is a huge difference in quality between my system and any MP3 player, the MP3 player having substantially worse quality.

I enjoy reading your column, but this one was pathetic in its lack of research and thought.
