  • The Bomb

[Read the article: Hitlers, Hitlers and more Hitlers]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Stalin got the bomb -- no war -- where is USSR today

China got the bomb -- no war -- they prop up our economy today

Pakistan got the bomb -- no war -- they are Muslims who hide Osama

North Korea may have the bomb -- no war -- they are Axis of Evil

(UK, France, Israel, India have it too)

Iran doesn't have the bomb, if they do get it then the threat of being nuked to oblivion will likely keep them in line the way it has everyone else

  • Paul?

[Read the article: Ron Paul distortions and smears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Paul may not be crazy

He may sincerely believe in his stuff

That doesn't make it any better

Most people who support Paul are doing it because of Iraq or his views on drugs

They are not interested or haven't thought about the implications of:

    the gold standard

    abolishing government-financed education

whether labor unions would be allowed

    doing away with the IRS

    abolishing Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid

    and other libertarian concepts

this makes 2 columns on Paul and neither explore his views

[Read the article: Ron Paul distortions and smears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Without federal protection labor unions are insignificant worthless things

there is nothing in libertarianism compatible with federal protection for labor unions

PS don't call me a liberal

  • Didn't Watch It, Don't Care Who Said What

[Read the article: What you missed while watching "Project Runway"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

we need a Democrat elected in 08

any one of them will do

Kucinich is closest to my personal views

of Clinton, Obama and Edwards (the 'big' three):

they have shown themselves to be over-calculating or untrustworthy from time to time but it is way too late to do anything about that now

Obama was not in office when the Iraq war vote took place so I take his discussion of how he would have voted with a grain of salt

he seems to have been AWOL on other votes lately

Clinton (my senator, voted for her twice) has not voted my way on some key issues, but I don't believe that she is as right-centrist as her critics think (is this lying? you tell me)

Edwards - can't take his new act seriously, but he says some good things

I will vote for the nominee

  • Last Chance to Get Barry

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    It's all about steroids

He can only be guilty of perjury, etc., if he did steroids

and even then he had to know that he was doing steroids

I don't know why he answered the questions in the first place (was he given immunity?)

but having answered them, it seems odd that it took 4 years to indict him

if that guy who went to jail rather than talk about Barry doesn' talk, how can they prove anything

and, no resorting to the jilted ex-girlfriends who need money never lie theory

  • Saw It Today

    [Read the article: "Redacted"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

A lot better than Lions for Lambs

Better than In The Valley of Elah

The soldiers in Iraq are shown trying to survive and do their duty

They are so alienated from the Iraqis that they are all the enemy

It is a short walk from gunning down an unarmed pregnant woman (that was policy, following orders) to raping and killing

The movie is short (~90 minutes) so there would have been time to develop the characters more

The key to the movie is the guy who went out on the rape but tried to stop them and tired to tell the authorities later

    That saves the movie

  • I Blame Government

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Time Warner had any competition around here, I bet I could watch tonight's game (in HD)

    but no

if given the chance I would switch to FIOS TV in a second

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

when the 'clear' was first used (by anyone), wasn't it legal

there was no law against it and it was not forbidden by MLB

that's how I remember it, am I wrong?

  • Advice for the EU

[Read the article: Opera's misguided antitrust charges against Microsoft]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

if they take Opera seriously, we will be left to wonder where this complaint was back in the 20th century

if the EU really wants to fight MS, here's a suggestion: give the citizens a tax rebate when they install a non-MS OS

  • Why Not Match The Polls With The Platforms

[Read the article: Media hostility toward anti-establishment candidates]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think that would make a good column

not who is leading in the polls, but who's positions match the peoples

Not sure who it would be but I bet it wouldn't be a 'top tier' candidate

  • Down with Apple

[Read the article: Think censor: Apple's lawyers shut down rumor site]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Despite the ruling of one judge, I don't see any trade secrets here

If I say that Drug Company X is working on an anti-cancer drug, not only is it a safe bet, but even if true, and not a guess, it in no way helps competitors. If I leaked the chemical formula for the drug that would be different.

In the same way, if I say that Apple is building X, sfw.

    No one else builds Macs

PC makers already make tons of configurations that Apple doesn't, but of course none run a MacOS

I hope the blogosphere gets more sources and prints more 'rumors'

    Apple can't stop them all

  • Winning

[Read the article: Why I'm still not for Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In 1968, I demonstrated in the streets of Chicago at the Democratic Convention

When I got back to school in the fall, a liberal professor asked me what I felt I accomplished by doing that

I told him that I had elected Nixon president

If you are not willing to accept a consequence like that in this election, then you need to do some re-thinking

the contest is not between change and the status quo or between practicality and principal, it is between Democrats and Republicans (for better or worse, etc.)

Hillary's politics are not my own

I voted for her for Senator based on the quality of her enemies

anything that made the right apoplectic works for me

I never voted for her husband or Gore as they did not appeal to me

after 8 years of George III, I want another party in power

I see the Dems like this

    Hillary - a winner

    Edwards - a loser

    Obama - an unknown quantity
