The Left's Big Lie

Implausibly, the left continues to recycle its tribute to Joseph Goebbels, the monstrous and thoroughly debunked Big Lie that Bush, through some magic, knew that Saddam retained none of the WMD that had been catalogued by the U.N.

Forget for a moment that the bipartisan Robb-Silvermann committee found that the Bush administration did NOT manipulate intelligence. Let's consider the most important historic event that, at least to the liars of the left, never happened: Operation Desert Fox, Bill Clinton's massive four-day air assault on Iraq back in 1998. Although Secretary of State Madeleine Albright stated that the Clinton administration "wasn't pretending that it could get everything," the goal was to degrade Iraq's capacity to produce WMD and reduce its existing stockpiles. During the futile search for WMD after Saddam's fall in 2003, Carville and Begala were all over the cable talk shows prattling that "maybe we got it all."

The professional Bush-bashers must come clean at long last and tell us if Clinton knew that there were no WMD remaining in Iraq when Operation Desert Fox knocked Monica Lewinsky off the front pages. Those who are willing to throw Bubba under the bus to perpetuate their pernicious myth must then explain why the intelligence services of countries monitoring Iraq through 2002 (France, Russia, Germany, Jordan, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Great Britain, Turkey, China, etc.) ALL reached conclusions similar to American intelligence.

Please explain how Bush and Cheney "manipulated" France's or Russia's findings. The alternative would be, of course, to confess to a vicious and baseless lie. The left often tells lies: it NEVER admits to its misdeeds.

Simple Enough for Leftist Liars? Nah!

My post predictably provoked dissimulation and incoherence from the liars of the left. We'll make it simpler this time:

Name the intelligence service that claimed back in 2002 that Saddam had no WMD.

Correct--absolutely NO intelligence service anywhere in the world made that claim.

Unanswered Question

Yes, Klytus, your embarrassing stupidity reflects your blinkered ideology perfectly. But tell us again: What intelligence service claimed in 2002 that Saddam retained no WMD?

Don't be shy.

Old Dogs Can't Learn New tricks

So the lefty liars are still doing what they do best: lying. All together now, gang--EVERY INTELLIGENCE SERVICE MONITORING IRAQ CONCLUDED THAT SADDAM RETAINED WMD.

Got it?

The left's Big Lie has been exposed. Anyone who tries to pretend that Bush chose to trash his own poll numbers by promising to find weapons he knew weren't there is peddling snake oil.

Moral Clarity

Predictably, the left will unload its trademark moral outrage on George Tiller's most vocal critic, FOX ratings-titan Bill O'Reilly. Obscured by the fog of tendentious rhetoric is a rare moment of clarity in a debate that is too often characterized by disingenuousness and cognitive dissonance. The people on the extremes of the abortion controversy have staked out positions that strike those of us situated in the ideological center as downright bizarre. When pro-lifers insist on referring to fertized eggs as "babies," people who care about the language, if nothing else, shake their heads. But George Tiller killed babies. That statement is as indisputable as anything in our polarized, mindlessly partisan society can be nowadays. So, after we condemn the zealot who placed himself above the laws of the land and invaded a church to commit an act of violence, what do we say about other zealots who who shrieked that George Bush and Dick Cheney were mass-murderers with the blood of thousands on their hands? Would the people huffing and puffing about Tiller's murder produce more than ritualistic tut-tuts and a trickle of crocodile tears at the news of Cheney's assassination? We know what leftist darling Bill Maher thinks about that, don't we?

Basic Moral Distinctions

Kate Harding delivered a well-deserved kick to her target's private parts. It should be unimaginable that ostensibly sane, rational people who tend to describe themselves as progressives could condone child-rape. Sadly, far from being unimaginable, it is exactly the sort of behavior we have come to expect. When "feminists" sing paeans to the wearing of burqas, all bets are off. The cultural citadels of the West swarm with moral idiots. Can it really be true that sophistication stretched to its breaking point devolves into a decadence indistinguishable from madness?
