Ultimately the Iranians couldn't care less about the Palestinians. They see most of the Arab world as a bunch of horses asses. Iran is a wannabe state. They want to be Western, with big guns and expensive things. Their desire for money trumps even their desire to be good Muslims and, if encouraged, this tendency will ultimately undermine the mullahs.
If you want democracy in the Middle East the best way to get it is to help Iran become a capitalist society like the US. The more wealth average Iranians have the more interested they'll be to protect that wealth and the more they will move toward democracy.
One could make the argument that the US is just as "evil" if not more so in this equation. In the 50s the CIA along with the British staged a coup against Iran's nationalist leader Mossadegh and installed a pro-Western, autocratic monarch in his place. In the 80s the US gave aid to Saddam Hussain to wage a war of aggression against Iran which left half a million Iranians dead. The hostage situation in the 80s and what Iran is doing in Iraq today is payback as they see it. So, here's the real crux of the situation: If we help Iran to get a seat at the table and become prosperous will there be more payback? You better believe it! The Semitic race is known for 100% grievance recall. "Never forget" is in their blood.
This is America's past coming back to haunt it.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]The problem with Hilary is she doesn't have a genuine bone in her body, or so it seems to all of us watching her on the boob tube. I don't think anyone has a sense of why this women wants to be president other than that it would be cool to see what a woman could do for once. She's not inspirational. She's not convincing. On the other hand, she is more qualified and more experienced than the other two mentioned in this article combined.
But who the hell cares about experience and qualifications, certainly not America.
All these pathetic fools that get caught up with their candidates like he or she is going to be the next messiah make me laugh. Like it really freakin matters who the next president is or like you count. NEWSFLASH: It doesn't matter and you don't count! Not on the national scale.
If you're interested in politics get involved in who your next city councilman is going to be. That's how you go about effecting change that will matter to you.
All these candidates, once they're in office, will do and say exactly what the pressures of that office make them do and say. The differences between them are virtually nil. What we're voting for is really more akin to prom king or queen. Who do you want to see on your TV screen for the next 4 years because let's not kid ourselves folks, politics is damn good entertainment. Do you want to see the know it all, uppity, stuffed blouse Hillary Clinton on screen day in and day out? Or would you rather have the 'I feel your pain America, now let me cash in on that pain' bullshit Edwards likes to shovel your way?
Edwards says: "It means somebody who has energy, passion and speaks from their gut about what they believe. Because what caucus-goers are looking for now is honesty and strength and fight and sincerity" and I've been practicing just those things for the past umpteen years talkin to juries. Hell, I've felt so many peoples' pain that if I had a nickle...uh, come to think of it I do have a goddamn nickle for everyone of 'em. Uhuuuh! (big smile).
Give me a freakin break!
Then there's Obama. Yes, he's ambitious. Yes, he's inexperienced. And Bill Clinton is probably right, we would be rolling the dice if we elect this guy president because we don't really know what he can deliver. But at least the dude is real and has a goddamn brain in his skull and a goddamn spine in his back. He's also smooth and charismatic and he'd be fun to watch on TV.
But shit, who the fuck really cares! It's not up to me. I don't fucking live in Iowa or New Hampshire or any of those other honky towns. Because if these fukkers had any sense, McCain would be leading the Republicans. Now there's a man who can tell it like it is! A man who'd give the American people the swift smack across the face that it needs 'Wake the fuck up!' A man who loves his country and who is in it for all the right reasons. But what the fuck do you people know about that. You have your fucking celebrities to piss your pants over. This isn't a goddamn election. This is American President/Idol!
