The "it's not fair" party!
[Read the article: Should Florida and Michigan vote again? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The super-delegates were put in place to deal with just such problems. Now, voters will not let them exercise that control becaue "it's just not fair, boohoo!" I'm getting sick to my stomach and John McCain is looking more and more attractive, thanks in large part to Hillary's attacks--so goes the stomachs of millions of other independents.
I was against the superdelegates before but now they need to rescue the party from self-destruct mode. Each day this fight is extended costs the eventual Democratic nominee countless votes and makes John McCain look all that much more presidential. McCain could turn out to be the luckiest SOB to ever reach the White House. He's got the lucky charms to prove it too.
At the very least, the party leadership should have all the uncommitted superdelegates commit themselves to a candidate, see what the outcome is, and then possibly make a move on ending this thing. I doubt they have the balls to make such a bold move though.
Enough primaries, enough! End this thing now!

Bitch is the new spoiler!
[Read the article: It ain't over yet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Clinton is a chameleon who has finally shown her true colors. Her scare tactics have won the day with the phone call add, the NAFTA scare facilitated by Obama's own fumbling on the issue, and the victim/pity card facilitated by SNL. She truly is a fighter, even if fighting means dealing blows that might make it impossible for her party to win the presidency in November.
I think Obama is not looking so great either, thanks in part to Hillary and SNL. But what is interesting is that Clinton is not looking any worse because people knew ahead of time that she was capable of this kind of politics. She even admitted to liking the down and dirty and said she was ready to dish it out to the Republicans unlike her opponent, who is not "vetted." Well those knives have come out early and she is "vetting" her opponent. The problem is he's not a Republican and this isn't the general election.
Since Obama is ahead and will likely win the nomination after getting bruised up a bit more by Hillary, all McCain will have to do is deal the knockout punch. If Hillary thought she was villified by the media before, you wait until she has cost the Democrats the general election.

I am woman, hear me whine!
[Read the article: Should Florida and Michigan vote again? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Clinton has shown she can fight to win, whatever it takes. Obama has yet to show how he can recover from such hardball tactics. Clinton warned about this months ago. She said Obama would not be able to handle what the Republicans have in store for him. Who new she was talking about herself.
The problem, as you adroitly point out, is that they now risk losing the other candidate's support, who may abandon them at the poles come November. If Clinton thinks she's villified now, she should wait until after she's cost the Democrats the election. Women have got another thing coming if they think this lady is going to make them look good.

Temperament not experiment!
[Read the article: It's 3 a.m. Who do you want answering the phone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If you've been in the senate 2 years you've been in the senate 100. The experience each of the three remaining contenders for the presidency are claiming amounts to the same thing. They are all senators and none have any significant executive experience otherwise. Given that as senators they all have good, first-hand knowledge of how government runs, their decisions as president will indeed be informed by this but much more so by the experiences that have shaped who they are.
So who do you want for president?
1) a man who has been taken prisoner in a wildly unpopular war and tortured for 5 years
2) a woman who has been humiliated and hounded by the Republican establishment for most of her political career
3) a younger man who has lived a challenging but not a crippling life and is now living out the American dream.
Hmmmm? I wonder who's got the least amount of issues and the least baggage? Who will be the steadiest when his finger is on the proverbial red button? It's temperament people, not experiment!

Wrong!
[Read the article: Let 'em duke it out]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This fight is making the Democrats look like a bunch of circus clowns and amateurs. Although journalists and Republicans eat it up, the people who support these candidates want it to end. McCain is getting rested, honing his stump speeches, revising his platform, and preparing to deal the knockout punch to whoever wins the Democratic nomination. It needs to end! The superdelegates need to grow some balls and step up to the plate. It's their turn to bat.

[Read the article: It's 3 a.m. Who do you want answering the phone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't denigrate John McCain for his service or his suffering. In fact, I may vote for him. He's got more integrity than Clinton, that is for sure. Nevertheless, his service cannot be counted as the kind of experience that makes for a good president. The same is true of Clinton's 8 years as first lady. They're liabilities as much as they are anything else. That is my point!
As for being a shill, you wrote the following:
"I've been rolling on the floor, convulsed in laughter, since I read [your post]."
"[Clinton has been] villified, demonized, shellacked..[by]..the Republican slime machine...she must be doing something so right to receive so much flack"
"I see their flaccid attempts at pejoratives as a badge of honor"
"[Obama's] wealthy patron, the indicted bag-man Tony Rezko..."
"You, however, compare favorably to BallPark Franks: full of baloney."
It's obvious you're the expert on shills and shilling. Your feminist fervor is clouding your judgement lady.
And don't tell me you haven't heard about the American dream? You know, that thing about opportunity, rags to riches, getting the chances you won't get anywhere else--look it up! It's a good story.
