Pathetic times, but one hoot of a story

Glenn, you sure write pretty boy!

"...I defy anyone to go back and read the April and May, 2003 tongue-wagging, mindless American press accounts of Jessica Lynch's epic firefight against the Enemy; the severe gun shot and stabbing wounds she suffered; the torture to which she was subjected while in the Iraqi hospital; and the daring, gun-blazing rescue of her by our Special Forces, and then try to claim that we have a functioning, healthy political press in this country that serves as a check on government deceit and corruption. It is impossible for any minimally honest person to make that claim in light of those stories."

And the part about Hinderaker's attack on Kevin Tillman,

"...subjected to discrediting smears from smarmy little chest-beating play-acting warriors like John Hinderaker."

The collapse of our fourth estate is serious buisines. The fat-assed typists need to get called on their abject laziness and corruption. But we can do it in a fun and entertaining way, can't we?

I had a good laugh, thanks

go do some homework

His ex is a friggin' Borderline and he finally blew his top. Now HE gets called the abuser. It's always the same. Watch out for those pretty ones who seem a little nuts Alec;)

@Rob Anderson

Thank you! Anyone who thinks the JFK assassination was the work of a single gunman is deluded. There is a mountain of evidence to the contrary. Oswald was one of at least three shooters, and did not issue the head wound which came from the front. The simple fact is that our government lied about the conspiracy because it had to. Single-bullet theory as cool-aid for the masses who cannot handle the truth. Where is the author of that theory today? Hmmmm........

Carter the wimp

I'll take a thoughtful, principled man over the posturing, ignorant thugs who've been ruining this country for over six years.

Americans fell for GWB's blustering codpiece cowboy act and overlooked some serious character issues. How did that work out?

Be careful you shithead republicans; I see that your group of candidates is already talkin' tough, and tryin' to out-gitmo the next guy. Fool me once......

"Oh, BTW there's this other guy....."

Love how LW waited a respectful while to toss that one in. Let's see; Jim got you medicated, therapized (?), motorized, employed and housed. All with a guarantee that you would be "taken care of" if things didn't work out. (Translation: if you continued to not take reponsibility for your own life.) Gotta say I'm leaning towards the goldigger view on this one. Now, Jim only gropes you in three places. Don't know how else to say this honey, but it sounds like that's all you brought to the equation in the first place. You're like one of those poor depressives who upon taking medication, has the fog lift just enough to become motivated to commit suicide. But you're not going to kill yourself; you're gonna go kill Bill instead. Jim's really paid a small price to be rid of you, and Bill should run for the hills.

Cheers

Talking points note

For my hapless Democratic representatives. The judge cited "OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE" of Libby's guilt. Apparently, Libby's lack of contrition contributed as well. Cite these two factors when asked to comment. Rest assured, your adversaries will do all they can to minimize, obfuscate, and otherwise explain-away the verdict and sentence. And the press will just reprint their bullshit.

LW would Google

to see if there was anything going on in his public life? I didn't understand that. Was he a known figure? And I was struck that neither LW nor Carey mentioned a certain morbid interest in the details of, and reasons for, the man's suicide as a reason to want to contact the widow. I think it's a common fascination.

My two bits; leave the widow alone. I agree with others that this one's already sorta sitting on top of the human seediness chart. No need to guild the lilly.

If anyone thought 1967 was surreal.

A little less abstract please

I want to know what it's really going to look like. I agree with others that things will not last forever. I'll go one better and posit that maybe evolution is not such a bad thing. The situation is certainly trending downwards for the factors which destroy a society; economic disparity, military adventurism, corrupt government.

How soon is the tipping point? 20 years? Fifty? What's gonna break first? Will the energy crisis get so bad that we won't need to lie about our reason for invading the middle east? "We couldn't care less about spreading democracy, we're here for your oil!" Maybe there will be another American Civil war; this time between economic classes? If this country breaks into factions such as city-states (I'm from Philadelphia [perennial losers] we're screwed, Cleveland's gonna whip the crap out of us), who controls the nukes? Which religion will prevail? The Christian fundies get points for meanness, but I gotta take some away for stupidity.

Used to be that we advised our kids to become doctors or lawyers. The smart money, for the moment, is on the wild-eyed, MBA, shoot-em-up, forget-the-law, ogliarchs. I hope that changes; but you don't need to look much further than Pennsylvania Ave. to see the truth in that statement.

I hope things DO change; I don't like them the way they are. I fear it will not be pretty though. I don't think it's all that far off either.

Always looked manacing, like a wasp, to me. Oh, and BTW, my son and I are working on a plastic model of an A-10 right now. We're going out to get an airbrush kit to get the camo right. Thanks for the fun read Patrick.
