Axe begins to fall

So happy to be within the first 100 responses to Glenn’s Blog.

I grew up in the 60’s-70’s believing; really BELIEVING that the one great attribute of this country was an infallible system of checks-and-balances: that one faction of the government would hold the others, for the most part, in-check.

I was a teenager when Nixon tried to fire Archibald Cox, his hubris came back to really bite him in the ass; via the SCOTUS if I remember correctly. With the greatly-pleasing result of Nixon’s resignation. Followed 30 years later, by the Republican sycophant’s horrifying revisionism and posthumous glorification. Bob Dole moved to tears? Poor Old tricky dick, can’t make a “Checkers Speech” when you’re dead I guess.

Obama, correctly in my view, is deferring this matter to the DOJ. I think plenty of DOJ personnel were aghast at the crimes of the previous administration; and would love to get the ship back on course. They can’t all be crooked can they? All conspiracy theorists now stand up!

My point is that this matter is running the course that it has to. Refer legal matters to the DOJ, criminally prosecute where warranted, and systematically de-fuse all firewalls. Obama is doing that. If I’m wrong, then he can go to hell with the rest of them. Have margaritas in hell with Tricky Dick, J. Edgar, and the like. If I’m right, it will be sweet-as-all getout to watch these suckers twist in the wind.

Original article: Mel Gibson's family values

Little guy smells bad

Really, are you guys serious? Vatican II? The scriptures are inerrant? Contraception is a sin? Jews are off-the-hook for the murder of Christ? What a bunch of “enlightened” Christians.

Mel Gibson, is a turd, a bigot, a closet homosexual, overt homophobe and racist. He made gazillions of dollars off of you credulous fun-loving slaughter fanatics with his passion movie.

So funny that this devolves into an ecumenical discussion. What exactly DOES the church say in such matters? Hell, they’ve got shitloads of books and councils to refer to, just give it a couple of decades or so; there’s some equivocation to be found. Meanwhile, keep shoveling that money upwards. The church absolutely promises to not diddle your little boys, or support murderous totalitarians in the meantime. Sort of.

The problem IS religion; particularly dogmatic hierarchical “churches” of any stripe. Free your minds, then start freeing your church, it’s the most Christian thing you could do.

Mel will be a short little weirdo (with a lot of bucks), but he’ll be OK. He’s already cashed his paycheck.

Original article: Mommy, what's a vagina?

Good old days

There were about 5 genuine belly-laughs in the comments section. My kids are now 11 and 12, and they know all about these things now. I sure miss those innocent days.

I might tell the story of potty training my son, who always felt the most comfortable letting-loose in the nice warm bath, but I'm afraid I've scarred him emotionally for life.

Blog appropriateness

I'm so deep in the comments I don't think anyone will even see this, but I want to posit:

Maybe the "Truthers" want you to comment Glenn because they respect and admire your and your commentator's opinions here. Maybe you get asked out of respect for your tenacity and impact. Not merely because they want a popular forum to advance their agenda?

I agree whole-heartedly that this is your blog, and if that is not your interest, so be it. I'm just saying maybe folks could look at their solicitation of your advocacy as a compliment; not just "tin-foil" shreiking.

More on topic: I'm a proud card-carrying ACLU member. I believe that anyone/anytime should be able to express their OPINIONS in whichever format they please. Amen. Let the marketplace of ideas give them steam or let them die.

Huzzah and some O/T

" Beyond that, I don't really think about how I can accommodate stylistic preferences. Are there people who end up being alienated by the aggressive and critical tone that often appears in my writing? No doubt. But there are also people who find precisely that attribute most appealing and persuasive. That said, the moment I start thinking about how to cater my style to what I think people might like is the moment it becomes both contrived and a burden, and that isn't how I want to write. "

GG

Damn, I'm going to get up and read this every morning. Good stuff. If someone has time, Re-fresh me on how to use the features like block quote, italicize and bold etc. There was a good discussion about this a few weeks ago, I should have saved it.

Thx.

The Dream-Police, they Live inside of my head

GG

“…Far more significant, "preventive detention" allows indefinite imprisonment not based on proven crimes or past violations of law, but of those deemed generally "dangerous" by the Government for various reasons”…

Now, we as a nation have slipped over the edge into thought-policing. Isn’t it true that all humans harbor violent retributive attitudes about some person or cause, making them potentionally dangerous? The problem is the purposeful muddling of the definition of words like “terrorism” and “war”. Hate them as I do, I have to grudgingly acknowledge the clever broad-characterization of all dissident opinions as “terrorist” by the illuminati. The same gang who brought us the all-purpose GWOT justification for enriching powerful cronies, banks, contractors, and the strange bedfellows we secretly support and fund. Yeah, I mean across the spectrum; Dems and Republicans. Fear goes a hell of a long way.

Posters here: you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why….

Your ass could end-up missing.
