I was there on Saturday

It was a perfect day in Philly. Bruce came onstage and said it was good to be in his "home away from home". The crowd was diverse indeed-an elderly woman right next to us, and an old hippie wearing an "Arrest Bush" tee-shirt; people kept asking him if they could take his picture.

Bruce's line about "sometimes I play big stadiums, just like Obama" got a huge laugh, and his line about "they will be leaving office" a huge cheer. A couple of times, Bruce started dead-strumming a rhythm on his guitar to the chant of "Yes we Can" smiling and riffing with the crowd.

It was late afternoon when he broke into his remarks, the sun was shining on the sky-scrapers of Philly behind him, and when he reached the part about Democracy having been handed down to us "right here in this city", I was choked up and felt a deep pride.

The first time I saw Bruce play, 30 years ago, it was like a religious experience, this past Saturday it was a truly American experience.

ROCK THE VOTE!

Please go to your local campaign headquarters

I have been doing it for the last two weeks, going out every night canvassing. They give you addresses to call on, it's about 2 hours work per night. They also have positions in the office (apparently hard to fill) for workers to do, cold-calling local phone numbers, which is apparently a nasty assignment; I'm going to give it a shot. I'm scared, but this election really matters.

One thing I've found with the undecided which really works, is to suggest that if McCain were elected, it would be the same team of behind-the-scenes money and lobbying interests who have brought us to this point: IN office AGAIN! Really, I am amazed how easily so-called Republicans are able to hear that.

There is a slight holding onto the "Terrerists will kill us" mindset; you know you're beat there when someone tells you that. Just smile and tell them thank you for giving me some time. They know the deal.

I beg you all to get involved. You would be surprised at what your neighbors know, and what they don't know. And you would be surprised at how your neighbors just want to connect with someone, THEIR neighbors.

This is important, get involved like you never have before.

Hey! Bloviators and poets

Get off your asses and make it happen. Walk down the street. Do you care about this country or about your clever repartee?

Pulitzer

One more vote for GG.

It cracks-me-up that "bloggers" (what ther hell does that mean anyway? Like if you get messy with pulp and ink; you're serious, but express ideas in real-time and you are ill thought-out) are not considered "serious" journalists. If anything, the MSN has become such a boring, corporatized, commercial-ridden dinosaur, they can no longer be treated seriously.

I watch the network news for the comedy value. Every night: the spun, so-called, hard news with the pathetic centrist angle and then, eight minutes of a fuzzy feel-good segment about poor kids marching bands at the end. Campbell's soup was doing this crap 60 years ago. I read "blogs" because I cannot get the news any other way. You fight on Glenn.

I believe (COULD IT BE??) that we are seeing a response from Washington to the power of the people?

Nawwww.

"Good night, and I hope you had a good day"

You know who.

Original article: Bush is back!

scraping the bottom of the barrel

It's really getting bad guys. "Oh, to grow a bush or not? Such decisions....and then, what should I micro-wave for dinner; fish-sticks or salisbury steak?"

My solution: the prematurely bald guys who shave their heads should grow gigantic brush to compensate, and fat chicks should shave.

Each to demonstrate that they are more/less than they seem.

Loft a shoe at him

I think it would be hilarious if everywhere that ex-pres GWB went from now 'till the end of his life, speaking engagements etc., someone from the crowd would send a shoe flying his way. Like Nicholas Cage in "The Weatherman", always getting pelted with fast-food and drinks.

@preumptuous insect Pg. 21

No need to soft-peddle it, how do you REALLY feel?

Funny to read the trolls here, if I could contort my body the way they contort their thinking, I would be gumby.

Monday night and Tuesday are gonna ROCK!

G'Bye shitheads, G'Bye!!!!

Just convict them if we can

and then stick 'em in general population of any U.S. prison. They will quickly learn what terror is all about.

And those claiming that the prisons would then become terrorist targets if they house AQ members are making a nonsense argument. WTF?

Sporadic posting

Bummer. A day without GG is like a day without sunshine. It's the one blog I read every day.

Happy travels!

Lotus oh say it aint so

What's the frequency? Your transmissions are garbled (no, has nothing to do with a turkey).

@PDA I agree, Seems to me GG writes about and exposes more "business as usual" than "surprise".

Ditto

What libertarian said. Your work is well-researched, thorough, but particularly fearless.

Congratulations and all the best.
