The Sunnis, Kurds and Shiia, have agreed on only one thing at their summit; They want the American troops OUT! See? A prime example of "Nation Building". That gang in the V.P.s office is gooooood!

for creationist nitwits IS that a debate goes on. This topic shows us how the discourse in this country- on sooo many issues- has been hijacked by a minority who realize they can play the press and get equal time to promote their agenda; thereby legitimatizing their neanderthal (LOL) viewpoints.

The defense in Dover(Harrisburg) DID NOT CARE if they lost. Losing let's you appeal to an ever higher court. You know; the one which is stacked with appointees???? (Yeah, THAT one).

I was struck tonight by the balance of play ABC tried to give the issue (I watch the networks for the comedy value). While mainly negative, the coverage ended with a scratching head coda of "hmmmm, maybe there is something to this movement". Wow.

How DOES a minority control the debate? Think about the Right's position on healthcare, social security, participation in global climate agreements, torture, spying on citizens. ALL losers for the court of public opinion; but boistered by fear of the "next threat comming in the form of a mushroom cloud".

    LOL

[Read the article: Going long for Jesus]

There are few things in popular culture these days which make me as sick as the "kudo's to Jesus" celebrations which go on after every god-damned touchdown, basket, field-goal, f***ing three yard gain. DO these clowns think their pointless accomplishments REALLY are sanctioned by God?

WTF IS God then? Does he whoop and holler to my daughter's perfect spelling test the same way he(yeah she)does to Allen Iverson's three-pointer? ARE those things of the same value? I'd guess that God is busy indeed. I don't teach my children that their accomplishments are the result of the favor of God. I would bet you as well, that AI doesn't REALLY credit God for the bucket.

You know, the cynical corporate, media, spin, flash-a-minute, mindset has got a hold on our culture. NOW they have co-opted GOD. What's left? Anyone who believes in any kind of God ought to be pissed about this.

It is sickening that 3,000 people die daily as a result of completely preventable diseases, and we celebrate pampered freaks of nature as heroes.

[Read the article: I've had it!]

I've been seeing just the opposite. An example: I stop at a convenience store most mornings and I'm impressed by how many people hold the door for others, how the clerk wishes me a good day, how people remark how cute my kids are and try to talk with them. I think people are generally good and just want to get through another day with as little strife as possible.

I guess I do live in one of those affluent places, but I don't think that's the whole reason. I was in a really terrible marriage; just constant bickering. I also had a brother die young. I sometimes wonder if those experiences just took all the fight out of me. I definitely used to be a guy with a chip on his shoulder. I would have said something to that person who spoke to their child that way, I would say something to a person with too many items in the supermarket check-out line, and years ago, I had a couple of instances of road rage. That chip just evaporated. I don't know where it went, and don't care to look for it.

Sure, I see some ignorant behavior (the oblivious driving while talking on the cell phone is everywhere). If some maniac tailgates me in traffic, I just move over and let him by. I usually crack a joke about it and am happy not to be that way myself. I just don't get worked up about that stuff anymore. Remember Elvis Costello, "I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused".

Best of luck (oh, and say good morning to someone ;))

    Nice letter,

    There are three things the Dems oughtta be hammering on;

    1. This administration is corrupt.

They are hooking-up their corporate "base" while we foot the bill ie; Halliburton, energy companys, defense contrators.

2.This administration LIED to the american people.

Some of us knew it while it was going on (quite a few senators included). Now the lie is exposed (and changes)again and again. And I still see W stickers on cars. Such a magnificent deception! People die in the meantime.

    3. There WAS at one time, an idea of a great society.

Goddammit it's not a bad idea. This country is looked to by the world as an example. Dems ought to be progressive. Kids need to get educated, people should not suffer needlessly for lack of healthcare, the treasure of this country should not be doled-out to those that already have it.

I want a politician to stand the hell up! F***cing BE progressive. I think you will find that it IS the will of the people.

Nice to see someone correctly using the phrase "row to hoe" rather than the often heard "road to hoe". Now if we can start working on all those "EK-cetera" bumblers.

Well said; and it gives me a glimmer of hope. Maybe some opposition candidate (I would have said Democrat, but I'm not so sure anymore) could start to make those points from the stump, Americans will come to their senses, and this ugly period of greed, hate and death will be over.
