Should we be reporting results? Or just sitting tight and waiting for all polls to close? AP has already called some states.
Watching these results tricke in is torture. I need to just stop.
With one percent of precincts reporting (so anything could happen), Obama up by 19 pts. in Florida! Still behind in Indiana and Virginia, though. Slight lead in NC, and, obviously, losing in GA and SC.
Maybe some moderation here? Maybe don't comment on a state with 1% reporting? I don't know, is that too much to ask?-- drume
You're right.
It's like crack, though.
In all likelihood, Obama needs to flip just one of the big red states out there to take this thing.
NC or Florida, perhaps?
And, on another note, the Kay Hagen win is a straight up repudiation of Rove-style politics. One could say that Liddy Dole lost BECAUSE she engaged in that type of campaign. It's wonderful.
Calls PA for Obama.
This must be heartbreaking.-- Allie_
I think devastated is the word I would use.
It's hard to be as ecstatic as everyone else is for the huge step forward taken yesterday, because I feel like my beautiful state, which I love so much, took a huge step backward.
I have felt the same way. I did celebrate last night, but feel a bit hungover on 8 today. Its not quite over yet, there's still microscopic hope for a wave of absentee votes.-- omooex
There were something like 3 million votes that hadn't been counted as of this morning, but it's not looking good.
I'm very sad.
Among other things, LA County and San Diego County voted for Obama and for Yes on Prop 8, a result people were predicting (that a GOTV for Obama wouldn't be good for No).-- ondelette
Thanks. Andrew Sullivan had some info on exit polling which goes along with your parenthetical comment.
So, so unfortunate. I feel quite torn today.
ACLU, Lambda Legal and the National Center for Lesbian Rights have filed a court challenge to Prop 8:

i've heard there's a large number of absentee ballots that haven't been counted. anyone know about that?-- JCourt
Marriage Equality has refused to concede the race until the absentee and provisional ballots are counted. But, with something like 96 percent of precincts reporting, it's unlikely that there will be any change.
Kristen--Sooooooooo glad Prop. 4 went down in flames.-- ethics_professor
My goodness, me too! I wish it meant we'd heard the last of that one.
You all have to see this (via Sadly, No!):

(I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.)
Our military are professionals and will do their jobs, but make no mistake: 99% of the military loathes Barack Obama and everything he stands for.-- ? ≠ !
You people aren't good for much, but you sure do know how to spew fact-free hyperbole. To paraphrase Stephanie Miller, I think you just pulled that from Joe the Plumber's visible butt crack.
So, what ? ≠ ! is saying is that raw data about contributions to Obama by the military does not dispute his statement that 99% of the military hates Obama and everything he stands for, but his anectodal evidence does back that claim up.
It's always the morons who can't make a coherent argument who go around questioning others analytical skills and intelligence. Hey look, I have now discovered TWO things the right is good at: 1) fact-free hyperbole and 2) irony.
I'm sorry, I should have said "unintentional irony." ;-)

No one is ever going to convince me that George Bush thought he was "doing right by the country."
In addition, it takes a special kind of delusion to blame Bill Clinton for the Bush Administration's crimes and malfeasance. Congratulations.
I love that she bilked the RNC out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's poetic justice. It totally cracks me up.
As for Elephantman, I hope you haven't been part of the "all critcism of Palin is sexist" crowd, because your whole "go bake some cookies, bitch" act is both sexist and disgusting. Not that the fear of being a world class hypocrite has ever stopped you before though.
We'll have to see. Some of those sources sound familiar, and unreliable.-- Iokannan in the Well
For NOB or Shooter to make the point they're trying to make, they need to show that Glenn or anyone here has ever argued that non-citizens should be entitled to the right to vote. Shooter's pathetic logical leap regarding Glenn's argument about habeus corpus didn't do it.
Commenters can split hairs with the wingnuts about particular vote fraud cases (true or false) all day, but that doesn't address Shooter's straw man. I don't think NOB even knows why he's arguing - he's just pre-programmed to spew.
kicking Lieberman out of the caucus out of spite seems small and petty.-- mderler
Why would Obama want to get rid of graft and corruption? It's pretty clear that he was elected on the premise that he would maintain the status quo.
Sigh.
