Ana Marie Cox, who originally reported the incident (she was there) reported that the woman said "Arab terrorist." That's why - we're all quoting her.
I've since seen the accurate information.
In other news, the Troopergate report's been released. It found that Sarah Palin abused her power. (Link to Ian Welsh post at Firedoglake in sig.)
According to McCain's campaign, anyone criticizing the people calling Obama a terrorist, a traitor, or a commie fagot or shouting"kill him!" at McCain or Palin rallies is attacking those people because they don't understand "regular people." No criticism of right wingers is legitimate no matter how heinous the conduct being criticized.
Tolerating behavior you consider to be the "same" as behavior you've railed gainst in the past only beause it comes from your side makes you a hypocrite.
But, I'm sure if Biden said McCain was palling around with terrorists (conduct that is actualy the same as well as false in both cases), you'd be ok with it because your side did it too.
What, NotOrbitBoy's link to Pajama's Media wasn't enough to prove his point?
Crikey, even ABC has reported that the ACORN story is a bunch of bunk. TPM has done some great reporting on this, including an interview with Iglesias. They also have a letter from Conyers to Mukasey and Mueller, shredding them for the FBI investigation and tying it to the US attorney firing. And the best debunking of the was done by Hertzberg in the New Yorker. It is a non-issue, except that Laura Ingraham and Hanity can't talk about anything else because they're desperate, moronic airheads.
I can't believe the GOP has the stones to claim ACORN is destroying the fabric of democracy in light of their own voter suppression activities. I guess someone made McCain engage in that particular falsehood/hypocrisy.
I know that "sending a letter" is a piss poor way to change anything (see Jane Harman), but Conyer's argument (and rhetoric) in his letter to Mukasey and Mueller is spot on. It needs wide publication. The best part is when he says that crying wolf over alleged voter fraud during election season, only to drop the issue after the election, has become a right wing "cottage industry."
Click sig for the document, which is posted at TPM. (h/t Digby)
I doubt that Americans are supporting Obama because they'd agree with the Greenwald-wing of the Democratic party on taxes, federal regulation, tort law, liberal judges, gay marriage and other gay agenda civil rights litigation, union workplace rules, affirmative action, free trade, or a hundred other issues.--Elephantman
What makes YOU an authority on why anyone is supporting Obama? Or, for that matter, what the rest of the country believes?
I mean, honestly, do you think that it's a persuasive argument for you to say, "I doubt that X" and just leave it at that? It's an extremely self-serving statement ("of course, everyone is JUST like me), but has no basis in reality, as far as I can tell. You certainly haven't provided any evidence of it's veracity.
A lot of networks remove items from Youtube, because their posting violates copyright laws. For example, Dick Clark Productions systematically removes clips of its shows from Youtube. That's probably what happened with Letterman. CBS has the whole thing posted on its web site now.
I'm watching it on cbs.com right now. It works fine for me. I really don't see any kind of conspiracy here.
As a righty do you like being humiliated on account of your shocking level of ignorance.-- rrheard
What I can't figure out is how someone who rarely, if ever, cites to evidence for any of his claims (and seems to believe he doesn't have to) is able to practice law.
Ultimately it will be the voters of California who decide the issue, and they who will answer for it.-- Iokannan in the Well
Elephantman takes for granted that people really support doing away with gay marriage. What they really "support" is something else. The ads are full of lies (e.g., withough Prop 8, churches will lose their tax-exempt status; children will be forced to learn about gay marriage in schools, etc.). There are lots of scare tactics being put out there that have nothing to do with the opinion issued by Ron George (Chief Justice and Republican). The ad also claims that the Court was ignoring the will of the voters, but the Legislature, demonstrating the will of the people, already passed a law legitimizing gay marriage. The Governator vetoed it.
According to Teddy Partridge at FDL: "uncommitted voters break 2-1 against Prop 8 after viewing this ad [a new anti-Prop 8 ad] alongside Yes ads." I've asked Teddy for the source of this information, but I think when people are presented with the REAL issues, the polls will come out differently.
That's why it's important to donate - to counter the lies, smears and deceit in the ads (paid for by people who live in Utah, by the way).
People: Do the right thing and counter this RW attack on civil liberties and privacy. Go support the "No on Prop. 8" campaign:http://www.noonprop8.com
Also, "every dollar to No On Prop 8 will be matched (up to one million dollars) by philanthropist Steve Bing and Equality California." This is true for every dollar donated between now and Sunday night. So, even if you can only donate $10, it becomes $20!

From McClatchy:
"Death threat, vandalism hit ACORN after McCain comments" (link @ sig)
There were racial epithets used, too. But, I guess we can be comforted by the fact that this wasn't McCain's attempt.
Isn't it funny how all of a sudden the racists are all coming out from under the woodwork, after the "pallin' around with terrorists" comments? They've made it acceptable to their base. This is how McCain and Palin are going to be remembered.
