"Giving the Terrorists our playbook"

didn't Alberto Gonzales just "give the terrorists our playbook" by telling them how we are eavesdropping?

Hasn't Bush himself also given "the terrorists" our playbook as he flogs his troop surge plan in Iraq?

These guys are so inconsistent I'm surprised anyone believes them at all, about anything.

Original article: The legend of Rahm

It was Bush, Stupid

If no one else has already written this (sorry, I'm new to this), the reason Democrats won in '06 was because so many people opposed President Bush and his rubber stamp Congress.

Ironically, Bush has galvanized Americans into voting Democratic.

Emanuel played a part as did MoveOn, ActBlue, the Netroots, Democratic party activists, etc. I became a regualar DCCC contributor not becuase of Emanuel, whom I had never even heard of, but because someone created an easy-to-use webpage that made such contributions easy. The Dems aren't the only people to have such a web page and I contributed because I was tired of Bush and his do-nothing Congress. Frankly I wish the Dems had more balls prior to the election and I still feel they are too timid.

to act as though one person is primarily responsible for Democratic successes in the House is preposterous.

Original article: The National Review mind

US Special Forces guys out painting mosques, providing health care & drilling wells.

I have yet to hear the right wing blast them for acting like the Peace Corps.

You can read about it here:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19468531/

I thought we already fought Iraq with our gloves off. Isn't that what 'shock and awe' was? It doesn't seem to have slowed down the insurgency at all, that's for sure.

I visit a variety of right wing blogs and their prescriptions for how to win in Iraq range from:

1. the insanely stupid (and suicidal) - nuking the entire middle east and apparently it's oil and apparently not thinking at all about nuclear fallout contaminating our own troops, allies and Israel.

2. Just plain ill-conceived and moronic - using all of our special ops soldiers to go from house to house, rounding up people who provide the wrong answers to unspecified questions and not fighting a 'politically correct' war. Isn't this sort of what the troops are doing already? There's 1 US troop per 200 Iraqis and they're spread all over the entire country. How long would such a house-to-house operation take? Would the Iraqis be required to stay in their homes until the Americans had arrived to check on them?

There is almost no thought given to their proposals.

Original article: The Islamists are coming

World famous Islamofascism Navies, Air Forces, and Armies will overwhelm us

Maybe we should stop selling them arms?

I guess they'll also manage to cross Europe & the Atlantic Ocean, unmolested, to launch this attack on the American 'Homeland'?

Does any Arab nation even have a navy that we couldn't sink before they ever left port or an air force that we couldn't shoot out of the sky with our well equipped military?

If conservatives are worried about Islam slowly becoming dominant in the American religious scene, I'd say Mormonism has a much better chance to do so given it's tenuous link to Christianity, the fact that Mormons 'look' American and speak American English. Yet even with these advantages, it has taken Mormonism more than 100 years to reach its current status as a minority religion largely limited to western states.

Am I supposed to worry about Islam taking over American in 300 years? I'd rather have health care and I'd rather have us out of Iraq.

It reads like Petraeus has a two bit right wing blogger as a spokesman.

His initial mail was largely meaningless and his subsequent replies were just as substance-free. That works in a world where no one can ask follow up questions (like Bush press conferences) but in an open forum, their talking points can be dismantled almost immediately. You'd think Boylan would understand that as a 'Spokesman'.

Boylan doesn't inspire confidence and he approaches his position as gate-keeper with Dogbert-like enthusiasm.

If anyone had doubts that the military is just as plagued with petty bureaucrats as other government bureacracies, I'd say this e-mail exchange demonstrates that it's at least just as bad (Congrats, Boylan! Mission Accomplished!).

I wonder when conservatives will realize that the military is just as human as every other gov't bureaucracy - but much more secretive and much more willing to waste our tax dollars.

Much ado about nothing.

I respect your spiritual attachment to marathons. I like your determination to have people actually race.

However, I think some people just aren't that interested in racing. They simply want to test themselves. I ran the Honolulu marathon a couple of years ago and finished in the bottom 20%. But I didn't quit - I pushed on in spite of intense knee pain. I didn't mean to ruin it for anyone and frankly wasn't running for anyone for anyone's benefit but my own. I wanted to see if I could do it. I don't see what the problem is.

For what it's worth, I've also done a non-Ironman Triathalon and came in dead last. But again, I finished. Some people in the same triathalon quit. I thought I did OK considering the fact that I hadn't ridden a bike in a year and had to borrow my friends knobby-tired mountain bike for the event. I had also never swam a mile at the time, so I was quite proud of my ability to persevere.

I just don't see the problem. To each his own. I'm actually happy that more people are doing it because Americans need to exercise.

It's probably better to focus on your kids.

They'll appreciate it later in life.

If you absolutely have to get laid though, the answer is right in front of you: Yoga. The gym/yoga studio is a great place to meet (sober and hopefully fit) people. You could also join a group of people with similar interests.

Don't mess with the nanny. She sounds like trouble.

Roberts should be doing infomercials instead of interviews of public figures

His type of questions are far more appropriate for an infomercial format.

Why are they so scared? because their precious access will be cut off?

I cancelled my cable months ago because I found CNN (the only thing I watched) to be useless.
