Her deadly wolf program

With a disdain for science that alarms wildlife experts, Sarah Palin continues to promote Alaska's policy to gun down wolves from planes.

The letters thread is now closed.

sarah palin

How about Sarah Impalin? That photo was uncalled for salon. Please take it down.

debaser

Cause I'm guessing that gunning down exhausted wolves from airplanes is NOT in the mainstream of American culture...

Just pretend they're Iraqis, that should ease most American's minds.

Disturbing photos

Yeah, well's it's a practice not only condoned by Palin, it's a practice both defended and promoted by her. We can pretend it's not going on, but it is.

And KateTex, vote for whoever the hell you want, do whatever the hell you want, but stop being disengenuous. You disgust me.

I fucking abhor the practice of "culling" wolves this way. I also have a long laundry list of things I abhor that I don't daily list out, because on the scheme of things, they all seem less important than invading Iran and what has happened in the Dept. Of Justice.

That doesn't mean I still can't be upset about this, if you're not, good for you. When was the last time you decried child porn? Hmm? Does that must mean it doesn't bother you?

Vote for McCain (most likely) or throw your protest vote to Hillary who hasn't asked for it, and I daresay, if what I've seen about her and her values and strength of character, doesn't want it, not if it gives the 4 more years to Bush policies.

Shooting of wolf pups on Alaska Peninsula criticized

AP Updated Monday, August 11, 2008 at 3:13 p.m.

JUNEAU — Alaska state biologists didn’t disclose that 14 wolf pups were killed in their dens, and critics are claiming a cover-up ahead of a voter initiative to curtail the state’s predator control program.... http://www.newsminer.com/news/2008/aug/11/shooting-wolf-pups-alaska-peninsula-criticized/

One way to counteract Palin's genocide of wolves

Support organizations such as Defender Of Wildlife who have specific programs in place to try and help Alaska's wolves and are currently working to have new legislation enacted to give these four pawed victims some much needed protection.

I've been supporting them for years.

Left is wasting energy attacking Palin

Do you see the Republicans spending any time attacking Joe Biden? He's a plagiarist and a liar -- documented facts -- but the right doesn't spend any time or energy on him.

Obama is running for president. McCain is running for president. Here is yet another Salon fton page story ignoring McCain and going after Palin. The left is falling in to a trap. Palin is not running for president.

This is the exact same mistake the left made in 1968 when they got all bent out of shape by Spiro Agnew. Agnes was elected twice.

Why are the Dems missing this point? Why is Salon running yet another hysterical story on Palin? And giving John McCain another free pass?????

@robob

the wolf was shot, then triumphantly draped on the aircraft.

why should the picture be removed?

Sounds like NRA welfare

$150 bucks to shoot and kill wolves out of airplanes? What kind of nutty place is AK and who's the nut running it? Is this the stuff of VP leadership?

I mean WTF. Not only does it sound like a waste of public funds but it is completely unsporting (i.e., un-American) and inhumane. But hey, this is the party that brought you the current VP - a man who shot a friend in the face while shooting "ducks in a barrel". What do you FREAKIN' expect?

If wolves are truly a a threat there has to be a less costly and less drastic and inhumane was to address the situation.

Oh yeah, right...humane, costly and reasonable aren't of concern to right wing ideologues when it comes to getting their gun rocks off.

The only thing I can add to the whole Palin debacle is George W. Bush is smiling because indeed...someone nuttier, more fundie and totally out there has stepped up and made him look good.

My god, there is someone worse then W and she might be one heart beat away behind a 73 y.o. man with known health issues.

Jesus H. Christ. Just say NO.

Does the wolf even have to be dead?

Or can you just cut off his forepaw and bring it in?

Sunday, September 7, 2008 08:46 PM

@Aycharaych

I figure we can solve two problems with one bullet by shipping illegal aliens up there for them to hunt by plane (bi-plane).

What it means to be human

One need not be an "animal rights activist", nor concerned about whether animals have feelings, nor ascribe to animals the notions of suffering or agony. One need only be humane, to have some small bit of compassion to realize how vile and repulsive this practice is. If Palin is really such a devout christian, she might remember that God commanded man to "keep" the garden he had created. Is this how we treat the beasts God has given us? With contempt, hatred and dispatch? And if Genesis isn't good enough for Ms. Palin and her thrall how about a little St. Franis of Assisi "If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men." Surely killing these animals, who are only doing what God "designed" them to do is neiher compassionate nor merciful.

Maverick kills wolf?

Palin putting a price on a wolf is at the height of irony.

Killing wolves is symbolic of the taming of the wild. It's a pathetic attempt to stamp out anything 'dangerous' and make Alaska more palatable for city folk like Palin.

Now if someone could interview Palin and ask her how such a 'tough broad' could kowtow to pussies afraid of a little wolf that would be different.

But it ain't going to happen cause the only thing Palin is more afraid of than wolves is reporters.

@amruth1

> I dont see much difference between say a fundamentalist Muslim

> and a Fundamentalist Christian ...

Guess that's because you don't see much difference between culling predatory animals and killing innocent civilians en masse.

America does deserve much better than your demeaning an entire sector of the population!
