  • Not to be too crass

But is there anything awful, venal, and inhumane this guy won't try to do? Always does the wrong thing for the world, without fail. All I can say is- what an asshole.

  • They have an incomprehensible attitude

Even when it does not threaten them in any way, they are murderously hostile to anything involving animals or trees or women or science, and so on.

  • Scorched earth policy?

It seems Bush Administration will search long and hard to disassemble good legislation. Is there anything that this cancerous administration won't try to disrupt?

  • Sooo much worse than Nixon

Even RMN didn't try to gut environmental legislation. These war criminals have sunk to new lows.

  • I know what will stop this garbage.

If Democrats win the White House, working with congress and through the dept of the interior charge the companies who take advantage of this BS to:

A.) Immediately stop what they are doing.

B.) Subject them to full financial audits looking for bribes to the Bush administration that are so thorough that the repuglican thugs that run the corporations will think they've just had a rectal exam.

    C) Make them pay fines double for any damage they cause.

D.) Ban them from the activity (such as strip mining) that they used to cause the damage.

This is completely doable and realistic. That is why the oil companies and any other repuglican "rape America and let the working stiffs eat cake" will use every means at their disposal to make sure McSame wins.

    McSame wins, America Loses.

  • Surprised? Hardly...

    - The haves and the have mores got their capital gains tax cut.
    - Bank lobbyists wrote the bankruptcy reform legislation.
    - Pharmaceutical company lobbyists wrote the prescription drug legislation.
    - Investment bankers got their deregulation (only to later tap the taxpayers once their smoke and mirrors went missing).
    - Defense contractors and commercial mercenaries got military privatization plus two wars.
    - The corporate mega-churches got their faith based initiative.
    - The telecommunication companies got their lucrative quid pro quo government contracts for violating the fourth amendment.
    - Corporations and right wing nuts almost have the Supreme Court stacked.

I won't even begin the list for energy policy giveaways, but should this latest development be of any surprise to anyone?

  • Ho hum

Another story about Bush corruption and incompetence, along with a side of bowing to special interests to allow the raping of resources.

    Is this really news anymore?

  • Corporations Über Alles

The most despicable, vile pack of craven zealots ...

Considering what we already know today about their utterly heinous behavior, it's frightening to ponder what we'll find out about in the years to come -- although there is much we will never know since they'll either destroy most records or mark them classified forever.

On climate change alone we can be sure future generations will rue this presidency even more than we do today.

  • Lock, stock, and barrel

Yet another peek into the abyss of a McCain administration.

  • Toxic presidency, taking care of business

Bush/Cheney have been on an assisted suicide mission for the country since 2000; they knew they only had so much time to inflict their ideological demands on the nation. This latest affront is just another one of their agenda items, literally taking care of Big Business. No doubt trying to get stuff done before McCain gets smoked in November.

  • beating about the bushes

no doubt the little man knew from day one he was a moron - gives him the strength to carry on - indeed gather together a house full of people just like him -

imaging being an anonymous bush, how awful - but he is, and they are

  • The BushConservative Attack on Governmrnt By The People

The BushCheney cabal have been working toward laisse fare form of control for the last eight years so this really shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Before the Supreme Court gets stacked against Joe Everyman we had better raise enough hell to try to head some of the de-regulation off or we will all be living in a filthy, polluted wilderness while the elite live in privalged luxury.

  • If it's a proposed rule, it requires public comment.

Nobody expects the Bush Administration to follow the law, but proposed rules are published in the Federal Register for the purpose of soliciting public comment, and those comments must be responded to in the final rule. They also probably have to do NEPA analysis of the impact of their new rule. Their failure to do either could provide grounds for wildlife, environmental, and other groups to sue under the Administratrive Procedures Act and NEPA.

Regardless, those groups will sue, even if they have no case; the object will be to stop the new rule by any means necessary, including dragging it out in court until a new administration finally takes over.

Though I'm an atheist, I've long thought that if I were a believer, I would believe that Bush is the Antichrist. Does this bastard ever do anything to help anyone other than his rich friends? His entire mission seems to be to hurt as many people, animals, cultures -- hell, the entire world -- as much as possible, so long as his rich friends can make an extra nickel off of it.

Let it be said again: thanks, Ralph!

  • Done.

    Commented via the link.

Also wrote my 2 senators, my congressman, and the Obama campaign, with a link to the AP story.

Suggested this get mentioned in Denver (it's a beautiful place, with lots of trees and wildlife ....), since more people will be tuning in.

  • more attacks on common sense

from the Bush administration. These actions serve to further attack/deny science & harm America's endangered wildlife. Just when we thought there was nothing else Bush could screw up while in office.

  • No matter what

Every large mammal will go extinct in my lifetime.

  • @James T. Kirk

"Every large mammal will go extinct in my lifetime."

Let's hope Rush Limbaugh leads the way.

  • But why do they do this stuff??

I often wonder how people like Bush can focus solely on short-term profit so thoroughly.

Is it, 'if we don't exploit X, someone else will'? Do they believe that following a path of maximal exploitation - of the environment, groups of people, whatever - is the best approach? Sort of like a free market philosophy, but with corruption completely allowed too?

  • @JTK

    No matter what

Every large mammal will go extinct in my lifetime.

Since human beings are large mammals, this statement is self negating. I saw that episode, dude:

Captain Kirk: Harry lied to you, Norman. Everything Harry says is a lie. Remember that, Norman. *Everything* he says is a lie.

Harcourt Fenton Mudd: Now I want you to listen to me very carefully, Norman. I'm... lying.

Norman: You say you are lying, but if everything you say is a lie, then you are telling the truth, but you cannot tell the truth because you always lie... illogical! Illogical! Please explain! You are human; only humans can explain! Illogical!
