    But why do they do this stuff??

    I often wonder how people like Bush can focus solely on short-term profit so thoroughly.

    Is it, 'if we don't exploit X, someone else will'? Do they believe that following a path of maximal exploitation - of the environment, groups of people, whatever - is the best approach? Sort of like a free market philosophy, but with corruption completely allowed too?
