  • Not CNN's Fault

    Don't blame CNN. The White House mistakenly cued GW to start 90 seconds early at 8:00PM instead of at 8:01:30. CNN probably took the video to air as soon as they realized he was starting early. My network was still in our planned intro remarks and the White House cut the feed as soon as they realized their mistake, and before we had joined it. I was watching the White House pool feed come in and saw the whole thing unfold. Bush started the whole thing again 90 seconds later. This was totally a screw up on the part of someone at the White House, not the networks.

  • No, it was NBC's error.

    Bush wasn't "practicing" and it wasn't the White House's fault. Bush was cued by NBC to start and then he had to stop and start over when the error was caught. Sorry to take all the fun out of it for Y'all!
