It's obvious that you are one of the 29% that still support the Worst American President in history. What a shame that you are so blinded by your ideological loyalty that you can't be objective in viewing the America that Mr. Bush has imposed on us.

This once proud country and its people were the envy of the world. Now the world not only hates America but Americans too. Mr. Bush started a war based on evidence that he knew was wrong. Now 20,000 young Americans have been wounded, some to live the rest of their lives without limbs. Almost 2500 young Americans are dead and America is no safer than before 9/11.

Mr. Bush is a president for the rich. Every single policy that he endorses, benefits the wealthy and hurts the middle class.

Even more, Bush and his defiance of the rule of law threaten our very democracy.

You K Street guys better get working on stealing the next election, because we "perennial joke" Democrats are going to retake our country.

You say that "there will be a backlash because of all the negativity" and you claim that will hurt the Dems. I think what you should be saying is that "there will be a backlash because of all the accuracy!" It is not 'negativity' to report the 'actual' news, it is 'reporting'. You may or may not remember, it was what you could read in your newspapers, oh, perhaps some 20 years ago. When the news was more like watching a Sergio Leone film, you got "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" until we reach a turning point, all we will get is "Pleasantville"; sure, it's nice to watch if you want to feel good, but it's not reality. Think of it this way, you can put a color candy coating on a rabbit turd, but that doesn't make it an M&M, nor does that make it any more palatable once the artificial covering is disolved. You may be happier eating sugar coated sh%t, but personally, I'd rather know what it is BEFORE I swallow it whole, then I get to choose to reject it. It is not negativity to point out the unfortunate truth, it is honesty in reporting...and as far as satire, that is defined as "the use of ridicule or scorn, often in a humorous or witty way, to expose vices and follies". So, perhaps, the Colbert speech was not satire. After all he didn't use ridicule or scorn in humorous ways, he used facts in witty ways. Hmmm, perhaps it was just the news finally being delivered.

What was that?..Fox news and the Grand Drug Addict Lumbaugh continue to push their own self righteous, bought and sold agendas, slyly people hating all the way to the bank.....and the difference is...what...?

Sadly, I must agree. Americans will, in fact, grow tired of all this negativity. Though I may have missed some of your previously posted points, I don't miss this one. (maybe I should learn to "skim read" more effectivly!)

It is a sad comment on both the present conditions in which we collectively find ourselves as an obtuse nation, and the collapse of the processes that either improve or deteriorate those conditions, that the elected leadership of our country and its annointed media stewards can sit dumbfounded with forks in hand as Mr. Colbert speaks sardonic truth seemingly above their heads. They either did not get his message, or had not the courage to demonstrate that they did; neither is responsible leadership or critical reporting of that purported leadership. Thank you Mr. Colbert for those of us actively listening to your citation of this unfortunate circumstance.

It's stunning to see so much effort put into adoring a 2nd rate comic - about 500 letters total. For the story, Lapdogs, there are only 49 letters, though most of the cheering throngs praise Colbert for bashing the press. A real journalist writes about the inadequacies of the press and not many of you folks seem very interested. You'd rather have your indictments coated with sophomoric humor it seems.

Hey fans, clear your heads for a minute, I got news for you. If you look real close at the video with Helen Thomas the press is vigilant; it's your hero who's in retreat. Is that really poking fun at the press or Colbert's intolerance for legit assignments? The self-deprecating joke was intended to cushion the Hindenburg remark because Colbert likes to have it both ways, which is why he's lame. At least Stewart and co. lay it on the line, but as much as they give, the joke's on you. And the idea that you don't "get it" makes it even funnier.

Today, while Dems stood around the water cooler still proud of their roastmeisiter's schtick, Hillary Clinton - your top rated candidate for '08 - praised our president as being charismatic and charming. If that's not a disconnect I don't know what is. And tonight on Charley Rose, Bill Kristol was the host, covering both Republican and Democratic scandals from a far more sensible viewpoint. Remember when PBS was a bastion of liberal, one dare say, Marxist content? Yo, Dems you've lost the battle of ideas. You've lost the media wars. And you're losing the allegiance of the country despite the current poll numbers. Remember we're only one terrorist event away from recommitment.

If you keep beating up on Bush, the tide is going to turn because Americans are going to get tired of all the negativity. So, be my guest. Keep mocking him and laughing to your heart's content. But when election time comes, it's going to be our turn to laugh at the perennial joke you Dems have become.
