Get Smart

Elizabeth Smart proves she's smarter, more graceful than Nancy Grace.

Wow...

...you'd think Grace would have gotten the message the first time, or the second, or the third. Kudos to Smart for sticking to her guns and refusing to play along with Grace's game. Her tone of calm disgust couldn't have been more appropriate.

Grace in her place

She did a pretty amazing job putting Nancy Grace in her place. Grace's syrupy attempt to discharge an emotional reaction from Smart completely backfired in her Grace-face. If it weren't for the Discovery Channel, What Not To Wear and Lifetime - Television for Women, I'd get rid of cable television. I've never seen so much CRAP wrapped up in one, $50 per month package.

I Can't Stand Nancy Grace...

BUT.. she's well known as the host of a prurient, exploitive tabloidesque show which dwells on the sensational aspects of true crime. I mean.. come on. Ms Smart isn't naive enough to think Grace wouldn't try to delve into the more juicy, scandalous aspects of her kidnapping. You don't take a ride from a scorpion and then feign surprise when it tries to bite you.

Also, since Elizabeth kept saying "I'm not going to talk about that at this time", I had the impression she was about to say "You'll have to wait for my book".

Someone needs to hit Nancy Grace with a shovel.

That's what you do to vermin.

True poise

That woman is such a snake. She even looks serpentine - Lord Voldemort crossed with Vanna White. Kudos to that brave young girl for asserting.

American Infantilization, con't

I'd also just like to point out that a 6 year old is "such a little girl." 14 year olds are teenagers, routinely babysit (that is, provide "child care") and hold other jobs, and are in or entering high school.

Clearly from Nancy's voice, she wants be talking to a helpless baby that bad things happened to, but that isn't the case now, and it wasn't the case then. She was abducted because she was a biological adult and able to bear children. I know it's on the national agenda to protect teen agers from the nasty world (expecially sex) forever, but it doesn't help matters to take a mature woman who went through an extraordinary trauma and turn her into a child.
