Easter Island, amirite? Jesus, why the long face? Impending crucifixion?
No kidding. I love classical music, but to hear it being used to back up religious fanaticism was too much, so I stopped at the point when Moussorgky's "Night on Bald Mountain" came in.
Kind of ironic really, since the music supposedly depicts the nocturnal reign of demons.
Wait . . . Demons? Robertson? The 700 Club? How could I have missed the connection? YES, a work of genius!
I may not be into his topic, but I thought it was actually a pretty cool performance. It would have beaten any Good Friday service I went to as a kid, HANDS DOWN!
Well, Herb, maybe they let it go because they realized that's Stravinsky's "Firebird" and not Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain." (OK, maybe not much better if I recall the character whose dance that is.) But they seemed not to have minded he inclusion of queer composer Benjamin Britten's "Simple Symphony," either.
Still, kinda hard to watch.
More please from the man who speaks for god through clay.
Is it just me, or does this guy remind you of Jim from Taxi?
