He probably didn't want another one. Rest assured, if he was the man he was thirty years ago he would have chewed Coulter into tiny pieces.

It's *Leno* for god's sake! Surely you were not expecting more anything more than a tepid, at absolute best, encounter. Leno is the bland, white-bread-and-mayo sandwich of late night TV. He's the Ned Flanders of late-night hosts. Then again, maybe not. Even Ned has more personality, spark and backbone.

Carlin spoke volumes
If you watch closely, Carlin's facial expressions during the Coulter interview pretty much say it all. Coulter pretty much admitted that she revels in the attention her outrageous statements net her. Carlin did the only thing that could possibly annoy her, he ignored her.

Coulter vs. Leno
Who cares what an aging preop. transexual says. Not that I have anything against transexuals. I am one of those "nuanced godless liberals" who loves everybody, including transexuals. She's not a transexual? Could have fooled me..

George Carlin has said things as offensive (to most people) as Coulter
Saying that Nick Berg deserved to be decapitated, retarded kids should be be eligible for euthanasia, etc. Maybe he was joking. Maybe not. But let's not put George Carlin up on some pedestal. He's not even all that funny anymore.
Face it; all three of them (Leno, Coulter & Carlin) suck. I'd rather listen to Carlos Mencia.

Why did people expect a big confrontation?
The most hard-hitting interview Leno has ever done was asking Hugh Grant "What were you thinking?" after the prostitute thing.
And why did people think Carlin was going to do anything? He was there to promote a Disney movie, not to risk alienating thousands of potential viewers.
