  • Ha, ha. But...

Very funny. But what no one discusses is that pumping gasoline exposes the pumper to quite a bit of benzene and other cancer-causing chemicals.

*All* the states should emulate NJ's example, and the paid pump jockies should be required to wear respirators.

That'll happen on the twelth of never, but that *is* what is right.

  • Laugh all you want!

But we get our gas pumped for us AND pay less than alot of the nation, especially NY.

  • out here in orygun

This bill comes up from time to time, but they never pass. Its one of the things which make Oregon Oregon. Not only is it marginally safer (this dates from the days of above ground tanks) but it is much better for elderly and disabled drivers, not to mention keeping the rest of us out of the NW monsoon. And it means that low skill employment is readily available for those who need it. The gas companies try to argue that it would be cheaper if we pumped our own, but our prices are lower than that of our neighbors', so I think we can figure out who it would be cheaper for.

  • I buy NJ gas.. It's Cheaper!

I live in NYC and on Long Island and whenever I hop over to Jersey to visit friends in Fort Lee or malls in Paramus, I always fill 'er up. Gas is cheaper in NJ than in NY and I don't have to get out of my car. NJ will gain NOTHING by repealing the pump law. Keep things the way they are, or you'll be paying NY prices and having to get out of the car on the ice, thereby possibly slipping and getting a concussion.
