Good ol' rape humor

"The Daily Show" highlights some of the least appropriate takes on the Duke lacrosse rape scandal.

Offended? Not!

I don't think it's humor about rape per se that bothers anybody, just humor regarding the rape of women. Jokes about male rape, homosexual rape, and prison rape bother almost no one. Why? Because our sexual humor is sexist. It's always easier to joke if the victim is male. This should surprise no one. Humor about the sexual abuse of women offends our piety. And now, thanks to the self-serving moralizing of feminists, such humor is politically incorrect. On the other hand, humor about the sexual abuse and humilation of men is standard. What could be funnier to the average American than the idea of some man losing his penis or getting his testicles cut off? What's more hilarious than watching some guy getting his balls kicked up into his throat? Never mind our perversity, we can always find excuses for such humor -- but our sense of propriety would always treat women better.

Sincerely,

Marti

"That's what I say damn near every time I turn to CNN"

Why do you turn CNN on? There's no reason to, unless a plane just crashed into a major skyscraper. It's not like you're going to get news from them. CNN hasn't been a legitimate news outlet for years. They're just a fear-mongering, ratings-pandering, bottom-feeding trash outlet obsessed with shark attacks, backyard bear sitings, mind-numbing footage of police cars chasing convenience store robbers down monotonous miles of freeways and endless warnings of how a disease or product defect might wipe out Americans in heretofore unseen numbers. You don't need to get the latest lowdown on nothing by cosmetically enhanced bimbos and cretins.

Turn off CNN and leave it off. You'll be surprised at how much you're not missing. You have a computer - use the net instead. Get the weather from the local news or from the internet. CNN is as much a cotton candy and freak show as Fox is. And that goes for the Today Show and anything else that passes for "news" on the major networks and basic cable. They're the nutritional news equivalent of a circus peanut.

OK, that said, I have to say the Nancy Grace clip is one of the most shocking things I've seen since the first time I saw an airing of the Zapruder film. Thirty years ago, Tex Antoine got fired from WABC for making a rape joke - and he was a lot more popular than Nancy Grace. She is a horror and she should have been fired for that.

"I hate you, Nancy Grace!"

That's what I say damn near every time I turn to CNN. If I never see her off-off-off-Beltway eyerolling again, and never hear her smug act of "playing hardball" with defense attorneys who are going to say the things that paid defense attorneys say, I will be a much happier man.

I saw that "rape stat" - who calls them stats? - bit when it aired on CNN. Absolutely flabbergasting. The assholery Grace and her monkey-boy demonstrated with their flat attempt at broad comedy lowered my jaw for fifteen minutes.

Taking the side of kidnapped little white girls isn't brave. She's another useless, graceless network timefiller. I could read a Turow novel and learn more about the law than two weeks of her shtick could teach me. John Walsh is 20 times the human being.
