why the Dominican?

I'd like to know from the film makers if there are comparable "baseball schools" in other Latin countries and, if so, what teams are involved and where. Is it anything like the team infrastructures, in number and complexity, that the teams maintain in the DR? I KNOW the DR has great players, but so do Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Cuba, to name just the most prominent. Are PR and Venezuela just not poor enough to permit this kind of colonialism? We know that Cuba is not open to MLB, even though there is a shadowy system of intermediaries that manage to connect Cubanos with big league organizations. In any case, the description of this film really does evoke thoughts of colonial exploitation from bad old days.

To baseball fans: is this the best we can do?!
