Rob,
I don't know how to interpret these videos until i read your always illuminating posts. Why, it's almost like living in the middle of civil war without electricity. Where's a true Polymathic Chomskyite when you need him?
Kudos to Salon for posting this film, although I must take exception to the poor lighting and cinematography. I myself could have done a much better job. In fact, Salon should feature MY films on its website.
You all come to play-o, I come to slay-o.
When did you slay-o?

When all you see is violence and extremists and dead bodies, it is hard to remember all the good people, all the normal families, all the collge students that just want to practice guitar in their free time. These films are so necessary. They're so simple in a way, but more moving and personal than most things I've seen about life in Baghdad.
This series has a raw power that overwhelms as it sensitizes, which is its true genius. Where the hell has the mainstream media been, and how did it miss this story---the real story---of Baghdad and its people; maybe they think ratings depend on the number of bomb sites and burned out vehicles shown per segment, but shame on them. Watching these clips makes one realize we cannot abandon these good people of Baghdad. Well done Salon and the Chat staff!
I can't imagine being without power like that. I live down in Florida and I know how bad it is going without power for couple of days whenever there is hurricane. It must really suck to live that way all the time.
i am really enjoying the perspective given through this documentary series, but i have been unable to connect to the actual website for this project. can anyone else get there?
The site is located at www.hometownbaghdad.com. There is a great dialogue going on with the Iraqi directors and cast, as well as a bunch of information about the project.
I humbly ask that a truce be called for the sake of these clips. They are too important. Ok?? Thanks.
I'm so so glad that this is out there. Everyone involved with this project should be proud, and hopefully all of us watching will be spurred on to share these with our elected officials. I know I'm going to.
