I didn't watch "Buffy" when it was on tv...I saw previews for it and thought it was pretty silly. (I mean, how are you supposed to take a show seriously when the main character's name is "Buffy"?)
I quickly learned when, a couple of years ago, some friends of mine made me borrow the first season of Buffy and told me I had to give it a chance. I was hooked since then. The passion and energy behind this show is contagious and the empowered feeling of seeing strong female characters made me realize, like Joss, there aren't many shows/movies who do this. I still get teary-eyed when I watch the last episode of Buffy and I wish that feeling of power and confidence for every woman on this earth.
Watching this video of Joss reaffirms that there are good people out there who are using their talents to spread the message of equality. It's easy to dismiss "Buffy" because it's "just a silly tv show", but the message behind it is something more people need to listen to, accept and continue the message in whichever way their talents lead them.
