Ads on Video Dog

Where'd the ads on Video Dog come from?

The letters thread is now closed.

That's not how it's actually working.

I am a premimium subscriber, and I've already been forced to watch two of the new ads. They're not just affecting non-subscribers.

Ditto on what jmntgmry said.

Me, too.

Try logging into Premium again

Our Tech folk assure me that those subscribed into Premium should not be seeing the ads. Are you sure you're logged in? (It's different from just logging in to write a letter.)

Try, and if it persists, email: premiumhelp@salon.com

They're standing by to help.

No ads. But no links, either.

I'm a premium subscriber, and many of these video dog postings lack links. Should I assume these problems are related? How am I supposed to go on without seeing the world's nastiest super model or dumbest exhibitionist?

Yep, I was definitely logged in.

It hasn't happened again since, but I was definitely logged in at the time it happened. I'd been reading premium content articles before checking out Video Dog, and after the ad played I checked the corner of my screen thinking I must have gotten logged out somehow, but I wasn't.

No ads here...

My two cents:

I'm a premium subscriber and I have not encountered a single ad thus far. In fact, when I first read people complaining about the ads, I thought, "What ads"? Glad to hear they are (supposedly) not showing for us premium subscribers.

No ads, but no HH vids either

Not sure what Heather's doing differently but there's just empty blue space where the video frame should be.

This with Firefox.

I can see them on my PC, but who wants to use a stinky ol' PC?

can anyone help?

i have never had trouble viewing the "salon" clips or any others on video dog. suddenly, a week or 2 ago, when i clicked on the clips w/ the salon logo, instead of getting the video i got a black box w/ no picture and no sound. is there suddenly a plug-in that i need now but didn't before?

has anyone else had this problem? (FYI i use safari for mac)

ads on video dog

I am a premium member and see an ad each time I watch something on video dog. According to the explaination on ads, I am not suppose to see them. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Excuse me...

...but that's bullshit. I've been getting those damned ads even thought I DO go through the Site Pass ad, and I get these video ads MULTIPLE times in the same session. I go through the Site Pass, then if I click on one of your vids, I get that stupid Ellen ad, and if I click on another of YOUR vids, I get the goddamned ad AGAIN. I'm getting to the point where I don't want to watch any of your videos, since I'm being subjected to the same stupid ads over and over. At the very least, you could vary the ads!

I swear, this site is getting worse all the time. Either fix the ad thing or just keep pissing off your readers. It's your choice. (But then, lately you don't seem to give much of a crap about what your readers think.)

Oh Please, Kerry!

I always use the site pass and I always have to watch the damned ads, now each time I click on a VD.tv-sponsored clip. You know, Kerry, I am very much aware what kind of swag Salon sweeps in each time one of those ads is viewed. I can't believe management is this greedy...and this willing to piss off Salon's readers, be they Premium or otherwise.
