Very cute. A Saturday Night Live quality skit, and that is not a compliment. It mentions Halliburton only about five years after Gary Trudeau talked about them ripping off American servicemen in "Halliburger."
One of the hallmarks of SNL sketches is that the intended audience of sophisticates never, ever expects to suffer the fate of the middle class rubes in the sketches. It's part of that contempt for ordinary people that's been a part of collegiate satire since the Harvard Lampoon. The problem is, when these problems start biting people close to you, the contempt doesn't seem all that funny.
the Indentured Servitude folks didn't really ship Brian all over the Globe before dropping him into the eternal black pit he talks about. No, Sir. They shipped him to Butte, Montana, where wacking away at rocks in a small, dark, confined space has been considered part of The American Dream for over a hundred years now. Working in the mines in Butte is "Reel 'Merican," you bet, boy howdy!
Will Brian be fed actual food? No, Silly! That would cut into our profits. And everyone knows that miners are worth less than food.
So, remember: We'll be coming for you soon, whether you called us or not.
I am so excited!!! As of next week, I can stop paying taxes, my mortgage payment, and quit work cause I dont need to worry about Health insurance anymore!!!. I feel like I just won the lottery.
