Bateman: Gen. Barry McCaffrey on "Hardball"

You are watching an infomercial trying to sell you a war that you don't want.

Selling the War and Other Things, too

Oh, yes. Our generals who turned into analysts for the major TV networks. Ain't they something?

Seeing them scramble for dollars, seems so much like watching those Black Friday shoppers who recently stampeeded over a WalMart clerk in their absolute greed for bargains on plasma televisions. I mean, these generals will walk over anybody.

These shameful general-grade officers make me respect the NCOs I served with, way back when, all the more. But what is it about America, that makes it seem now that the higher we go in large and powerful organizations, the more corrupt the leadership guys at the top become? Why must so many CEO-level people be ruthless self-promoters?

Good job Bateman. This is one of your best. Thank you from an old "buck" sergeant.

Bateman's back!

Glad to see Scott Bateman's unique and wonderful animations are back on Salon again. I know Salon had a budget limitation initially resulting in Salon cutting him loose. I was just curious, did Salon readers write in protest? Anyway I'm just Salon found a way to keep his work on the site.
