What an incisive wit this guy has. He pointed out that Bush is an idiot by sarcastically comparing him to Aristotle and then made an analogy to hammer home the point. According to Aristotle, the construction of an analogy requires genuine intuition. So Maher must be like a total genius or something. I now understand why Maher can afford such nice suits. I couldn't have thought of something like that. But... you know who could have? Rob Anderson. That dude is even more the bomb than Bill Maher. Let's hear it for Rob Anderson!
I just went back and looked at a bunch of these Bill Maher "New Rule" clips on Video Dog, trying to find one that would elicit some kind of laugh. Is Salon under contractual obligation to publish them? They're just not that funny. No, not in the "I'm so offended" kind of way. They're just not humorous. Maher looks like he's phoning it in, which leads to poor timing and no punch. It's odd, because Maher's writing on this same website is piquant enough. I may not agree with all of his caustic conclusions, but at least it's usually a good read. These clips are just yawn-worthy.
Bush didn't hire Rove - Rove hired Bush.
I watch Bill Maher every Friday, and though his "New Rule" segment is often hit-and-miss it always includes at least one or two howlers. Perhaps if Video Dog would start featuring the howlers rather than the duds they wouldn't look so clueless. Besides, it would be much more fair to Maher.
