  • WTF?????

How about starting a different, dedicated thread for the "aw" crowd? I really can't see the connection between the video section and random animal pictures.

  • Because. . .

We like cute animal pictures, Gromit. One photo a day really isn't that big of an imposition, is it?

I think the real question is: What do you have against cute animal pictures? And by extension, What do you have against cute animals? Are you going on record as being anti-warm, cuddly puppies?

I'm very, very disappointed in you, Gromit.

    K.L.

  • EWWW!!!

Infact, Gromit, I say why post all these pesky clips, after all "Dog" is in the title at least. Granted, I'm the human associated with the dog that you so heartlessly disparage, but come on, it's not like they are posting pictures of "cats" or anything! (oh, wait a minute).

    Bill

  • Nobody ever went broke showing cute animals

South Park really covered the bases on cute animals in the media last year in its "Quest for Ratings" episode. The boys are in danger of failing their extracurricular AV assignment for South Park Elementary's closed-circuit TV network because their serious-minded news magazine keeps getting trounced by another show, "Animals Close-Up With a Wide-Angle Lens" and its sequel, "Close-up Animals With a Wide Angle Lens... Wearing Hats." But keep these coming, if you must -- we are paying for this content, but it doesn't really cost anything to skip over these when they arrive in our daily Salon mailings. Day after day.

  • another vote for cute dogs

Yes, posting the cute dog pictures can easily be dismissed as shameless on the part of Salon. But they're so cuuuuuuuuute...

And are they really less substantial than the ironically funny David Hasselhoff/figure skating/etc. videos?

    I say keep 'em coming.

  • shaggy dog story

I am just a hound after all, so maybe I'm missing the capacity to understand this human tendency to muddy the waters. (Hey! Is this why I can't quite grasp what's going on in Iraq?)

I also lack YAD's capacity to be quite so wry with my comments.

My pedantic canine logic says: Yes, we pups are cute, but do we belong here? Isn't the beauty of the internet partly the fact that there is infinite space for infinite interests, so that the cute doggie crowd can sate themselves in the company of their peers, without having to inject their tastes into every other forum, however unrelated?

How do I can escape the tedious commentary of people I don't want to mingle with, and engage in matters of my choosing, if not on the internet?

So please, Salon. Start another thread for those of us who just want to watch entertaining videos. Give it a title that doesn't involve pets, and spare us all this pointless timewasting.
