Jo-Jo is so wrong

. . . and yet, seems so right!

Wednesday, January 25, 2006 11:21 PM

It's obvious: Painfully earnest, white-haired, sharp teeth

Joe Conason

Clem

Short for either Clementine or Clement.

If it's Clem-for-Clementine, then there's an excellent opportunity to sing to her: "Oh ma darlin', Oh ma darlin', Oh ma DARRRRRlin'" -- you get the idea. And, who better to listen to YOU sing than your dog?

Thursday, January 26, 2006 12:05 AM

But of course!

Sweet little muffin poochikins!

Boo, for short.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 03:16 AM

Name the pooch

What about "Sugar"? It looks so sweeeeet.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 03:37 AM

This was an easy one

Mr. White / Mrs. White

Thursday, January 26, 2006 03:46 AM

How about Snickerdoodle?

Or maybe BooBear? That's as sweety as I can get this early in the morning. Cute dog.

AW Snowflake? Fluffy?

As a former Alaskan, I have some fine names for the pup.

1. Igloo

2. Nome

3. Yupik (an Eskimo tribe)

4. Allapah (Yupik for 'It's so cold!)

5. Iditarod (sled dog race)

6. Yukon

Thursday, January 26, 2006 04:25 AM

Name him....

Jack Bauer.

With a face like that, he could do anything!

Thursday, January 26, 2006 04:54 AM

Enough Already!

Jeez, enough with the cute pets already. As Jane Curtin, in another context, once said on Saturday Night Live, "it's so cute, it makes you want to puke your guts out."

Thursday, January 26, 2006 05:00 AM

Let's call him...

Mr. Tibbs.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 05:34 AM

if it's a boy, anyway...

"Chompers."

Thursday, January 26, 2006 05:53 AM

how about....

Butterstick!

Thursday, January 26, 2006 06:29 AM

Because you know the pup will inevitably cause some mischief...

Murphy's Law

So many nicknames: Murphy, Murph, the Murph, Phee, Pheesie (for cheesie, really), and really, any other musical nonsense that can be thought up.

Furthermore, when the pup causes trouble? The full name will carry some weight.

Besides, an all white dog will undoubtedly find any and all mud puddles.

Canine's mystery name

Clearly this is By-Tor the Snow Dog. Clearly.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 07:10 AM

Rapscallion

Thursday, January 26, 2006 07:26 AM

Poppy!

(or Papi, if of the male gender)

Thursday, January 26, 2006 08:13 AM

Don't know why

But I say "Wangles."

Thursday, January 26, 2006 08:36 AM

Puppies in the morning!

As I have named all my animals after foodstuffs.

I dub this dog:

Potato.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 08:46 AM

I don't know why

but as I was staring at that picture, "Jasper" came to mind. Jaunty, unusual, so old-fashioned it's cute, but not cutesy.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 09:01 AM

Twinkletoes!

S/he looks so delicate and lithesome.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 09:34 AM

(S)he looks like a combination Mexican chihuahua and Canadian husky, so how about ...

Canuck of the South or, better yet, Hoser Jose or even Eh Jose? (According to http://www.namestatistics.com/search.php?name=JOSE, Jose is also a female name.)

Happy Salonning!

A man named Dee

Forget Fluffy

Tarball.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 10:21 AM

Krispin.

He/she just looks like a Krispin to me.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 10:40 AM

Larry Tate!

...enough said.

Naming Aw dog

2cute

Thursday, January 26, 2006 11:48 AM

Supreme dog name

The pooch is all white, kind of like the Concerned Alumni of Princeton. Puppy looks harmless enough, but when it gets big it could end up biting your daughter and destroying your furniture. Only one name does it:

Alito

Thursday, January 26, 2006 12:06 PM

And the answer is...

His real name is Kibble. Sorry I forgot to say, and thanks for all the great ideas for his brother or sister (in a year or so, when he's bigger).

As for those great ideas--the Alaskan ones are probably most appropriate since the breed is "American Eskimo"--but I think I like Potato and Joe Conason the best.

Thanks everyone! (Especially Salon.)

Thursday, January 26, 2006 12:30 PM

Name

Small Paw

Thursday, January 26, 2006 12:43 PM

Thursday, January 26, 2006 02:53 PM

White Fang

'nuff said.

Thursday, January 26, 2006 03:27 PM

name the dog "bob"

name it 'bob'

Thursday, January 26, 2006 03:35 PM

Aw...

it's Poozer!

Thursday, January 26, 2006 09:18 PM

Tofu Jack!

The dog's name is clearly : Tofu Jack.

Look at him. He's white. Like Tofu. That snarky look on his face? It's like all the Jack's I've known in my life. I.E. Tofu Jack.

Clearly. There is no other name that suits him better.

Friday, January 27, 2006 03:30 AM

Name this dog

The dogs name is Whoyou. Nickname is Whooy.

Friday, January 27, 2006 12:35 PM

Stop already!

Stop already!

Jennifer O. responded below: the doggy's name is Kibble. He doesn't need a name anymore! Stop it! Are you trying to confuse him? What's wrong with you people?

In all seriousness: Thanks for all the suggestions!
