    Accents Not So Bad

I really don't think the accents on True Blood are so bad, and I'm someone who's usually really bothered by that sort of thing. For example, Kira Segewick speaks in an accent used by no known human on the Closer, and that really drives me nuts.

But mostly I think the accents are pretty good on True Blood. Jason and Sam really speak like plenty of people I've known, and so do the smaller, peripheral characters. Bill uses a stilted cadence because he's supposed to have been a gentleman soldier in the Civil War, so that actually makes sense. Anna Paquin's accent is probably the worst--she doesn't exactly sound like Scarlett O'Hara, much more realistic than that. I'm prepared to give her a pass. Really, the only accent that sticks out for me is Tara's. I've never known of a African American girl from the south (or anywhere else for that matter) who spoke that way.
