but so early in the season we couldn't make heads or tails of it
Previous season finale, no?
-
Where Sun got the money
Sun got the money from Oceanic. All the survivors got a hefty sum.
-
Unbelievable fantasy
Sun's settlement being enough to buy out her dad's company.
Come on, with the current situation of the airlines, any decent giant Korean conglomerate could probably buy out the entire US airline industry.
So, maybe she does have some other source of funds that we're to find out about. The rest of the Six don't seem to be rolling in dough after their return.
-
glaringly unbelievable inaccuracy
Jack having to smash the doorknob off before kicking the door in. Completely inaccurate, that doesn't help at all.
Other than that, the show is quite believable.
Maybe Jack has never actually looked at a door.
-
Paik Industries
Sun's father was told that the money for the buyout came from 5 different banks. Excluding Aaron, that would seemingly be the Oceanic 6. Also, Sayid said in an earlier episode (when he was golfing/assassinating at an ultra-exclusive resort), that he had been the recipient of a substantial settlement. Plus, don't forget that Hurley was already rich.
-
Polar Bears
Polar Bears, dude. And backwards talking boat people.
-
lots of errors
nuttiest final scene ever in a series finale (_season_ finale, not series finale).
Jin has _already_ appeared in flash forwards.
and as others have said, it's already been revealed where sun got the money.
-
Not *that* hefty...
Even if Sun got a 100 million dollar settlement (and I doubt Oceanic gave out 0.6 billion in hush money) it wouldn't be enough to buy controlling interest in what must be an at least one billion dollar heavy industrial megacorp. *Even* if she had Hurley's help it wouldn't be enough.
One early theory was that Widmore helped her out for some reason. That doesn't seem to be the case now, but still don't know how she came up with the scratch to overthrow her father.
-
Jin appeared in a flash forward
...in a grave.
You might have been confused by the episode where Sun had her baby. That was a combined flashback/forward where Sun was in the future, and Jin was still Paik's enforcer before they even got on the plane.
-
Sun's money?
Dharma Initiative? They obviously had loads of cash.
-
So many more puzzle pieces to fit in
...I love it!!
What is Sun's agenda with Widmore? Is he the 2d person she blames for Jin's death (the 1st is her father)? Is she playing Widmore to get revenge (and maybe helping Ben get revenge for the death of his daughter - Ben has promised to kill Widmore's daughter - Desmond's true love)? Or does she want to team up with Widmore to get revenge on Ben (maybe he's the 2d person she blames)?
Why is Locke back in L.A.? What happened on the island after he took over as leader and protector of the Others and the island? When he left the island does he become wheelchair bound again? Is that why he (supposedly) committed suicide? Jeremy Bentham - what's that about? (Wasn't he the one who wanted his body preserved and kept somewhere at Oxford? Was he a contemporary of John Locke - I can't remember? Does this even have any importance to the show?)
If it is true that the island can heal and resurrect why can't new life be created? Why do women who get pregnant on the island die?
Sawyer? Juliet? The people on the Zodiac?
And so many more puzzles!! And yes I am a hopeless Lost geek..but it so much fun!
-
thanks
I apprecciate these occassional wrap ups. That way I don't have to watch the show but I still get a few answers. I watched the first two seasons but they lost me after that. All I want to know is what is the island's purpose. Hopefully that will be answered next year.

Re: Kejojo: Where Did Sun get the Money?
Kejojo, so you're saying Oceanic gave Sun enough money to leverage a buyout of her father's multi-national coporation? I think not. That settlement times 6 is probaby more than Oceanic is worth.
Ben is clearly footing the bill here for revenge purposes. If I were Desmond I'd watch my back.

Sun's money
I'm no expert, but wouldn't the amount of money she'd need depend on what defines "controlling interest" in this company? According to the Lost Wiki, Paik Heavy Industries is an auto manufacturer. I have no idea how much money it would require to buy out an automaker that has a smaller definition of controlling interest, but I'm guessing this could be a wide range.
...We're getting close to the deep end.
...Then again, who cares? This is perhaps the best show on TV right now.

Time Loop Theory for Lost
The best explanation I've seen for a lot of Lost mysteries is on Jason Hunter's web page:
http://www.timelooptheory.com/index.htm
Once you've read it, everything starts to fall into place. But it's a spoiler in a way, so don't go read it if you enjoy being mystified.
-
Oh come on
This is Lost and you're arguing over how she got enough cash to buy the company or how much it might cost?
Really? That's the only detail you find convoluted?
Move on, folks.
I wish Salon's editors would better fact-checking. This post is riddled with inaccuracies, as previously mentioned. Their Wire posts were equally poorly written and edited.
-
HUH?
This show sounds so completely stupid. I am glad I stopped watching it after the first few episodes.

Sun's Buyout....and Lost
Isn't it conceivable, as her father's daughter, that she would already have stock in the company? A lot of rich people give their children stock, don't they?
I don't think she bought the company; she just got controlling interest away from her father and kicked him off of the board. Conceivably with her Oceanic money, Jin's Oceanic money, heck probably the baby she was pregnant with got some money as well, and the stocks she already owned (probably bequeathed to her when she got married) it wouldn't be too hard for her get get a controlling intersest in the company. She may have even had others on the board who were sick of her father, and who knows, Widmore.
Okay, enough about that:
SPOILERS
I liked the finale, but it was really frustrating as hell. I especially love the part where Locke and Ben are in the Orchid station and Ben, sick of Locke's constant questions sits him down to watch another of those creepy Dharma tapes.
And now we know what was up with all those bunnies! I was frustrated, almost to tears, that we don't see anything on the island after Ben moves it.
I also hate Jack. Hate. Jack.
Do ya'll think the Oceanic Flight might have gone down on the Island because Jack's father was on board, in a coffin? That is what I'm thinking, now.
