  • Thank you

Thanks to the reviewer for bringing this to my attention. I have a new TV getting delivered today and look forward to feasting on these episodes as soon as I can get my hands on them. Love love love French, Saunders and Lumley - especially French. YAY!

  • Just put it top of queue on my Netflix

THANKS for the tip. I'm an Abfab-aholic, love Vicar of Dibley even, and think French, Saunders and Lumley are GENIUS!

  • Will be renting this post-haste

I love, love, love all three women. Ab fab is a fave, but also like French and Saunders, and was sad to see the finale of the Vicar of Dibley. Yay!

  • If you liked series one...

...just wait until series two. It's where things really start to come together. Hopefully, BBCA will get around to airing it Stateside.

My favorite aspect of the show is the Sal/Tip friendship, which feels infinitely more real than most female relationships on TV now and perhaps ever. It's great stuff even by French and Saunders standards.

  • Wow

I just watched episode 5 on a net feed, about an apparently schizophrenic woman who sees the face of Jesus in a potato. It was as touching as it was funny. I did a bit of poking around, and saw there are two seasons of six episodes, plus a Christmas special. I just might go and get religious so I can pray for more episodes.

Oh…and it uses one of my favorite songs for the theme music, The Kinks “Village Green Preservation Society”…can’t beat that.

  • Love this show

I hope this gets lots of interest. Such a sweet and funny show. It does take a bit of warming up to, but all the goofy characters (and everyone's tolerance of the other) is so British. Love Dawn French.

  • You had me at "Dawn French"

"Vicar of Dibley" was one of our favorite series -- can't wait to see what this new one is like!

  • Thanks!

I've had the theme song stuck in my head for months but hadn't realized it came from a real song. Can't wait to get the Kinks album you mentioned, hope it's as good as the folk version.

  • Music

It looks like the folk version is available too, on Kate Rusby's "Awkward Annie" CD.

  • Loved Clatterford

On BBCA last year. I truly hope that they bring it back for Season 2, but they (BBCA) have really gone downhill. Nearly all their programming now seems to be reality shows. Don't we have enough of those produced here?

  • yes indeed

You had me at "potato" and "Jesus". I'm taking Rebecca's excellent recommendation and running with it all the way to Netflix -- in fact, I wonder how many "Clatterford" rentals will spike because of this?

  • Terrific TV series

Thank you for the review. I agree that Clatterford ("Jam and Jerusalem" in the UK) is marvelous -- one of the most endearing, beautifully written and acted TV series in recent memory. It's amazing that Jennifer Saunders wrote this as well as AbFab and the superduper series "Vivienne Vyle". She's an amazing talent.

If you haven't seen Clatterford, be a little patient. After the 1st episode I wasn't sure I liked it. After the 2nd, I wanted to see more, and after the 3rd I was completely hooked. The second season is even better than the first, let's hope an American DVD comes out for that also.

  • What is it with good British Sit-Coms...

    and ill-fitting theme songs?

Ad-Fab had Dylon's "wheels of fire"

The office had that song "handbags and glad rags"

Extras uses "tea for the tillerman" by cat stevens

    This show, too (i gather)

The songs have little baring to the tone of the shows.

Sort of like "Full House" using "Amazing Grace" sung by Tom Waits.

  • Seriously

This show is fantastic, and I was thrilled when Netflix finally got it. Rent it immediately.

  • Thanks

I am really looking forward to this show. Along similar lines, I love Saxondale (with Steve Coogan), which played once on BBCA and now is available at netflix.
