Peter
As for Peter surviving the explosion, Ted didn't seem to suffer any ill effects when he nuked the Bennets' house, so I imagine the power includes suviving giving off massive amounts of radation and causing an explosing. Of course, then Pete would fall out of the sky, but his regeneration can handle that, as long as his brain doesn't get skewered in the landing.

Sylar Drag
I, like everyone else it seems, came away a little annoyed when Sylar seemed to have survived being skewered by Hiro and disappeared down a conveniently located manhole. But then it occurred to me this morning that the blood trail leading to the manhole looked more like someone dragged the bloody body away than the blood trail that would be left by someone crawling away. I propose that there's someone who wanted Sylar's brain. The Organization? The really bad boogie man? Momma Petrelli???

And join us in TT!
Because we're weighing in on the finale in Table Talk. Who's got theories? We've got theories!

Peter couldn't fly
Peter couldn't fly away and it would have been inconsisent if he did.
Remember, Peter has no control over his ability to absorb powers, and everytime he's absorbed a power he's had trouble controlling both the new power and older powers.
Peter suddenly comes into contact with Nikki and is absorbing super strength, Hiro and is gaining control over time, not to mention Sylar and is gaining all kinds of new powers.
Notice, Sylar allowed himself to be pummeled by Peter because Sylar knew this would set off Peter's powers.

Disappointed!
The possible future episode would have made a better finale!
I love Heroes, but the ending was disappointing to me. WTF did Nathan have to fly in to save the day? We've already established that Peter can call upon the powers of those he's already been exposed to at will, the first of which was his brother, Nathan. So, then, why did the Flying Senator need to swoop in and sacrifice himself? That makes no sense!!!!!!
I do like how the show has no qualms about killing people off, but I want the deaths of these characters to have some sort of meaning. Nathan's "sacrifice" was needless and bone-headed. I really hope that they fill in that loop-hole...

Indeed

Just like the time Invisible Claude pushed Pete off the building and he flew away and saved himself? Oh, that's right, he took a header into a Taxi. Peter's control is far from perfect, and it's unreasonble to expect he could whip out flight when he's trying to keep from exploding.

And about regeneration
While I do enjoy the eye candy of Heroes and some of the characters, I did find it odd that earlier this season when Claire tranqulized Ted as he was nuking their house when she came out of the house her clothes were burned away and her skin was regenerating, but her hair stayed the same length and waviness!!!! How could she ever get a hair cut?!?!?!

Slowly losing me
The number of plot holes, and especially the survival of Sylar are really starting to annoy me. Peter can't control his flight power? It's one of the first ones he absorbed! I'm willing to suspend a lot of disbelief as along time comics & SF fan, but I can't believe that someone who could fly wouldn't go somewhere remote and practice! I also agree that the early episodes make the last few seem like they were just marking time to get to a big May Sweeps Finale. Also, it would be nice if someone (besides Sylar and Horn-Rimmed Glasses) had a brain. I'll probably keep watching, at least a few episodes, next season, but I need a little more closure within seasons, and a little more good sense from the characters I like.

Sylar's body...
"Heroes does have plot problems, and I was the first one to groan when Mohinder left the defenseless Sylar alive in his apartment, but I thought the finale was reasonably logical."
So, after the big boom, lots of ambulances and police cars arrive and take care of everyone, clean up the crime scene, etc., and EVERYONE LEAVES SYLAR'S BODY JUST LYING THERE? So he can crawl/be dragged into a nearby hole later? Does Sylar have a power I missed where when he falls down no one can see him?
-
No, but...
Does Sylar have a power I missed where when he falls down no one can see him?
There is a character who can turn invisible. Perhaps Claude wanted to recover Sylar's body for some reason.
It's about the only thing that makes sense, but I agree that Sylar's possible survival is annoying.
-
Follow-up...
I really like the idea that Sylar was dragged away (maybe by the next big bad). Will he be a pawn of the Company? Rehabbed? Hmmm.
Regarding Peter's lack of control... Heroes teased us with kick-ass future Peter (with Sylar-level mastery of his abilities); wimpy Peter was an unfair letdown. You get a pep talk FROM SHAFT and still can't get your mind right? What a loser. The "future" battle (freezing vs. nuclear heat, etc.) was what I was expecting from their face-off.
There was an awful lot to like in last night's episode, and since Sylar is clearly not dead, the Peter-Gabriel (snicker) Battle Royale can still happen. Heroes is still a LOT better than Smallville ever was. I'll take what I can get.

Loved it and Hated it
1) When shapeshifting woman died she totally should have been obese.
2) Even though mind reading guy was clearly an idiot from the start, for him to think he could run off and take Sylar out on his own was too ridiculous to believe. Double for Hiro's buddy, but then that guy was beyond ridiculous.
3)If there's a reason Peter couldn't fly into space on his own, they should have told us what it was.
4) WHY was it a better solution for Nathan to carry Peter away and get blown up than for Claire to put a bullet in his head and dig it out later?
5) Given Sylar's powers and the heros' general lameness, the ease with which he was defeated didn't make sense. How could either Hiro or multiple personality woman have snuk up on him? And when Peter got the upper hand briefly he began PUNCHING him?! What the @#$?
I loved the series overall, but there was a lot of silly inconsistency and even more stupidly unbelievable behavior from the beginning. Hiro and his sidekicks antics were often painfully dumb. OK, they're "innocent and naive" Do they have to be retarded? And the mindreading guy? Uggh. And what happened to Internet woman? I could go on, but overall the show was good clean fun.
PS: for a while there my theory was that as the show went on it would gradually be revealed that every single person on the planet has secret powers! Maybe it will.
