Finale wrap-up: "Veronica Mars"

Oh, the suspense! This season ender left us glued to our couches and cursing the commercials.

The letters thread is now closed.

If Stephanie Is Going to Be Salon's TV Reviewer

She needs to watch more TV. Where/How do I apply to be Salon's TV critic?

Wednesday, May 10, 2006 08:02 AM

what about HH?

Was Heather Havrilesky fired or did she quit? Just curious.

Duncan

Stephanie concludes that Duncan "succeeded, via a hit man, in avenging the death of his sister, Lilly...".

Previous episodes still cast some doubt on Aaron Echoll's guilt and left open the possibility that Duncan did it. In this episode, Echoll's confessed to Veronica during the elevator ride to the rooftop. But...

Could Aaron Echoll's confession be an attempt at unsettling his archnemesis? Could Duncan have ordered the hit as part of a continuing cover-up of his guilt?

Thanks for the spoiler!

Hey, thanks for putting that spoiler about Beaver and Mr. Mars right on the front page of Salon. Guess I won't have to be surprised tonight when I watch the episode that I had to tape.

Mind Reader!

Stephanie Zacharek,

You read my mind! I was sitting on the edge of my couch last night truly HATING the commercials! I wondered if I were the only person over the age of (gulp!) 30 dying to find out who blew up the bus, was Veronica's dad really dead, and was someone going to wipe that smug grin off of Aaron Echolls' (Harry Hamlin rules!) face.

I tried to think if I was ever this anxious for a commercial "break" to end for another show and couldn't come up with one.

Now, of course, is the agonizing wait to see if this amazing show will return in the Fall.

I have to concur with Wormwood

Putting a giant spoiler on the front page of Salon was extremely irritating and did a great disservice to the many Salon readers who have been following VM all season, but who happened to record the episode for later. Some of us aren't always able to watch our favorite shows in real time.

Salon used to have the good sense to post spoiler warnings. If your staff members like this show as much as you say you do, you'll change the headline of the VM story.

Where IS Heather?

Geez Louise, I was going to watch the tape this weekend. I kind of knew about Beaver, but not about Aaron. THANKS.

By the way, Veronica Mars is hands-down the best show on network television.

Note to the spoiler whiners

A spoiler is when the show has not aired in real time yet! Sorry, but that's the way it works, just hang out on TV message boards and you will learn that it is no longer necessary to use spoiler warnings once the show has aired, thems the agreed upon rules. Those of us using VCR's and Tivo's just have to deal, although this isn't a TV site, get off Stephanie and Salon's back they didn't do anything wrong.

Next I wanted to say great review! I wish more people were aware of Veronica Mars, this show is a much better mystery show than all those stinking CSI's put together. I have Tivo so commercials really aren't a problem for me. The mystery solve was great, I don't know anyone who suspected Beaver of being the mastermind, hell most of us just thought he was in the closet gay, not a victim of Woody's perversions and apparently a sociopath! That Jackie is a teenage mom, even better, it's just something more to prove how very observant Veronica is, I don't think any of the audience suspected that Jackie wasn't everything she claimed to be.

Oh and to person who still suspects that Duncan killed his freaking sister, ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Aaron Echolls killed Lily, because innocent men don't try to burn teenagers alive and there is the previous evidence of his violent temper when he would beat Logan.

Plus obviously you missed the episode where Kendall had to gain access to Duncan's room so she could collect a hair sample that conviently ended up on Aaron's "found" Oscar at the murder scene way after the fact. Or did you miss when Kendall went to Aaron to make a deal with him?

Think of the theme for the last episode, nobody gets away with their crimes. Aaron got shot, Beaver killed himself, Weevil gets arrested for killing Thumper, Woody got blown up and all the good guys are safe.

It was a great ending that tied up every loose end if the series is cancelled, but also left a tiny cliffhanger to come back to if the show makes it to the new CW network.

Did anyone else notice??

(Spoiler Alert...avert your eyes if you haven't consulted the Oracle at TiVo.)

After the Hitman finishes off Aaron Echolls. He calls Duncan Kane. The lines went by so fast, I wasn't sure I heard them right. But did I hear...???

KANE: CW?

HITMAN: It's a done deal.

(For those not in the know, CW not only being the hitman's name, but also the future Paramount-Warner Network that Veronica Season 3 will hopefully be on.)

Should we Veronica Fans be taking that as a hint as far as the Show's future, and that it is a positive one???

Reefer Madness

I just wanted to tip everyone off, who hasn't heard about it, to check out "Reefer Madness: The Musical" starring Kristen Bell. It was made for Showtime and is now on DVD. It's tres campy, which is fun, but the music is really, really good. Ms. Bell radiates, and it turns out, is a great singer and dancer. It also stars Christian Campbell (brother of Neve), Alan Cumming (sigh!), Steven Weber, and Ana Gasteyer. And Amy Spanger, who can sing the paint off your walls. Having seen this, you can't watch Veronica Mars without wishing she would sing the clues once in a while.

unexpected spoiler!

Yeah, but I expect to see spoilers on TV sites. It's easy enough to avoid those sites. I go to Salon for lots of reasons (and, for me anyway, TV coverage is not one of them) and I didn't expect to pull up the page, scan the AP wire and new stories and see a great big spoiler... If I'd just seen the headline, I would've known not to click the link, but putting a spoiler up there before I even have a chance seems a little bit wrong.
