Crazy is always in.
As a die-hard Law 'n Order fan (omg, never would I have ever imagined that that combination of words would cross these lips 'o mine) I will be giggling over that line for some time.
On thinking on it a bit longer, it reminds of a scene in that very show where McCoy has been threatened and the detectives hustle him away from a date he's on, to his chagrin.
It's said that humor is based on the unexpected, after all.
Jeez, all that and nothing about the REAL crazies on FOX's Mental? Maybe that show is just too sane to make the cut. Actually Flipping Out Jeff, despite his obsessive-compulsive disorder, seems very sane to me. I'd live in one of his overly fussy houses...so I guess that makes *me* crazy. And those wacky Oklahoma City cops on Saving Grace could almost be from Reno 911 except they are all about as realistic and rational as any angel seeing drunks could possibly be. Give Holly Hunter that Emmy, already! She's so much more...well, vivid, than all the others (even Glenn Close, who will probably take it again on momentum).
Mob-ster here.
Isn't it considered politically incoorect to say 'crazy' when you are supposed to say mentally challenged? My goodness why all the hate speech from the left?
I fell in love with the first episode (not surprising since I have BiPolar 2) and I've made it my mission to turn as many friends on to it. It appeals to viewers who crave the rare creativity expressed in Holly Hunter's body of work. She is unsurpassed in her portrayal of unpredictably real, colorful characters who make life worth living. Plus I absolutely love Earl - Leon Rippy is fantastic!
The article was CRAZY, but I could not stop reading it! That is CRAZY.
But, to be serious for a moment, I'm crazy enough to read the whole article twice. No that's not crazy.
Really enjoyed it ! !
.
The latest Saving Grace, or the Last? As they were literally rolling on the floor laughing at their audience (from whom they had stolen 30 minutes of life) I said fuck you all and turned off the episode. I don't care how it ended and I may not bother with the next one either.
C*nt writers out of ideas, and actors who can't laugh hysterically, convincingly no matter how many times they loop the sound. Plus I am real tired of pretending that Grace's scrawny body could be sexy to anyone, let alone the parade of characters she's bedded.
Hate to admit it, but whenever I hear about the drop in real estate values, I don't think first of the difficulty young people have getting a mortgage. I think about Jeff Lewis, and people like him who made lots of money off all those people with disposable high incomes. And worrying that "Flipping Out" was gone for good.
To be fair (not that that was the point of the article), Jeff doesn't just toss a few throw pillows around. He's hugely obsessive and makes major changes. Sometimes to homes he's not working for. Remember when he couldn't help but redecorate his new landlord client's apartment, even though that wasn't the unit he was supposed to be fixing, and even had to (literally had to) throw out all the stuff he considered junk under the sink. (I kept hoping they were going to show the landlord discover this and loose it, but they never did. Darn.)
He's actually a pretty good example of the American work ethic. He can't not work. He has no life and no form of entertainment outside of what he does. He only communicates through his work, and though he sure makes a ton of money, he's not just shoring up easy bucks so he can retire at 40. I doubt he could stop. If the economy continues to sink, he might end up paying the customer to keep remodelling houses. He could never retire.
For all his rudeness and intensity, and though he seems to treat most of the people who work under him (the laborors and the gophers) the he seems like a good guy. He treats his maid better than he treats his clients. He did his brother's house for free, and the implication was that they had been estranged and Jeff wanted to build a relationship with him. And he does care about Jenni, but it gets into that obsessive area again (she won't let him know where she lives because she knows he'll barge in and rearrange everything). His ex's little girl loves him, and indeed he's stayed good friends with that ex. He knows he has issues, but about the best he can do is acknowledge them and then rebuild a real estate property from the ground up.
Love the show. So happy it's back.
HH, you have outdone yourself! I always enjoy your writing, but this week--it's crazy good. How crazy am _I_? I don't even have a tv right now (this is just a short-term aberration), and I still read/love your column.
The notion that humans are rational creatures is belied the entirety of written history.
I find the concept of sanity hard to grasp. If it is what I read in texts, I have yet to meet anyone who is sane.
Explaining sanity is about as hard as trying to ascertain the motivations of any deity considered to be both benevolent and yet occasionally malicious. A totally benevolent deity seems to be akin to an oxymoron.
That is a perfect description of the Obama administration and the left wing democrat party. They always think they’re right and want no opposition to the contrary. Even if the glaring facts are against them they’re still going to do what they want. Great description! I guess that’s why the ACLU fought so hard back in the 70’s to change the laws about getting people committed when they a re nuts. The ACLU new crazy people are crazy but not dumb they would never commit themselves instead they some elected them to run the country. What a country!
