The return of American Gladiators brought to mind the late great Bill Hicks, whose comedy from the early 90's is still so culturally relevant today. Here is a quote from his bit on television being used as a tool to keep people stupid with American Gladiators as the prime example.
"So there, we have figured out, go back to bed America, your government has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed America, your government is in control again.
