They call it Canterbury's Law because the writing is older than Chaucer.
When the obviously-guilty abusive father punched out Canterbury during questioning on the stand, my eyes rolled in their sockets with such violence that they actually popped out of my head. It took fifteen minutes of feeling around on the carpet before I found them quivering behind the entertainment center. By that time I was so fatigued by my exertions and the steady stream of tedious courtroom drama jabber emanating from the television that I barely had time to jam my eyeballs back into place before collapsing into a deep sleep. While I was asleep, I had this unbelievable nightmare where I was watching some ridiculous show about an immortal cop.

Canterbury
okay...the writing IS banal...but Margulies beauty more than compensates.

Better than I expected
I actually found the first episode of Canterbury's Law to be better than I had expected. Margulies reminded me of her best work on "ER" (and why I haven't watched *that* show in years).
"New Amsterdam" too has exceeded my expectations.
Both may well benefit, in terms of gaining an audience, from having started up while other networks have no new stuff appearing as yet, post-strike.

Canterbury's Law
"Canterbury's Law" = "House" with a law degree and better hair care.

GeeBee's right
After viewing the first three episodes of "New Amsterdam," I find myself becoming hooked. Caught the debut of "Canterbury's Law" and, while predictable, it's also entertaining. Of course, I also like "Jericho" - so make of this what you will.
