"Cirque du Freak": Not freaky enough

Salma Hayek makes one sexy bearded lady, but she can't put hair on the chest of this good-natured kiddie horror pic

Reilly

A large part of the appeal of John C. Reilly is that he always looks slightly ridiculous, so it's hard for me to imagine him being credible as a mastermind in period clothing.

Hi, I am Stephanie...

...and I'm a comma-holic.

Worst writer ever.

Please Salon. Spare us. She sucks. It is time for Salon's movie reviews to be better.

@seoigh

No you suck.

And you must have been rendered unemployed by your pure suckage, the bad economy, or a combination of the two, since you have so much time to cyber-stalk Zacharek. And, to boot, you have a bizarre, twisted, fixation on, comma usage.

Go away troll.

@ seoigh

I would rather read Stephanie Zacharek's movie reviews than your snarky comments and the other snarky comments from the tiny, obnoxiously vocal minority here who happen to hate her.

Let me guess, you loved Dark Knight more than like anything ever?

Needs assistance to be more freaky fun!

This movie doesn't add much to the vampire genre.... It's not gory or sensual enough to appeal to older viewers, but a bit too scary/mature for younger kids. That leaves a pretty narrow demographic of tweens / fans of the book. For their parents, Reilly is great, and there's some humor; but really, no bite!

See two chicks review it at:

Repetition or Guantanamo redux

Basically the same thing I posted to the N.Y.T. - Who needs waterboarding? The Moslem extremists need only be saturated with our culture's love for tweeny, vampiric fantasy 24/7! I'd wager they'd break in a heartbeat... Bin Laden doesn't stand a chance.

Fun, just fun

I enjoyed the windup much better than the pitch, but it was good fun, if that's what you're after. The veteran actors are great to watch.

But Stephanie - detail work! He's not texting in his coffin. He's playing video games! Rather important since the whole reason he is in the coffin is because everyone he knows needs to be convinced he's dead! Who's he going to text?

Seoigh has conniption fit over perceived excessive comma usage

@seoigh

I'll take Zacharek any day over your stilted, whiny, robotic sentence structure.
