Let's cut Twilight some slack, guys

Jeez, papabotts, I'm not sure what young girls you've been hanging around but my 11 yr old daughter and her friends have not "seen or read about plenty of sexual issues by the age of 12". They like soccer and horses and Harry Potter. They are only slightly starting to be interested in boys and Twilight is just the right speed for them. I've read the Twilight books and enjoyed reliving my early teens when you first notice boys and feel overwhelmed with longing but yet at the same time are afraid of sex as well. Everyone should remember these books were written for young girls who are NOT into Gossip Girl/Paris Hilton/thongs for 11 yr olds & pants with juicy written on their asses. I am a staunch feminist and extremely liberal but am glad about these books being available for young adolescent girls. I watched Buffy and she is awesome but not very relatable to most young girls. I've always seen feminism as the availability of choices for girls and women; not that we must all aspire to be amazons. Yes, Bella is portrayed as slightly dopey and weak, but most people act/feel that way at some point in their lives. Especially in their early teens when they are learning who they are. Let's cut this movie some slack - teen boys get their stereotypical action films and raunchy sex comedies, why not allow young girls their own fantasy movie? I doubt they will grow up to be doormats for enjoying Twilight just as young teen boys who love Transformers etc won't go around shooting people and blowing things up when they grow up.

And True Blood is hot, btw. But not suitable for Twilight's audience of 12-15 yr old girls.
