My, you do like things understated, don't you?
heard of the journalism principle of not stating definitively what you have no pfoor for . . . or do you just have too much time on your hands?
That's been obvious for years. My heart goes out to him.
...who really liked The Fountain. But perhaps that's because I loved the graphic novel on which it's based.
...and I've never seen the graphic novel.
I have liked every Aronofsky film more than the previous one, and The Fountain is one of my favorite movies of all time. At this point he could film anything and I would watch it. I take the movie reviews here at Salon with a grain of salt, although I recognize a lot of respected critics didn't love The Fountain, but I encourage everybody who doesn't mind a slightly challenging movie to see it. It is a beautiful movie.
Also, I would be remiss not to mention that I really liked the score for the Fountain, which was written and performed (at least in part) by the tremendous band Mogwai.
Who has acromegaly?
Aronovsky's on my short list of directors whose movies I will almost always see simply b/c they are generally unusual and interesting. (The others might be obvious: Wes Anderson, David Lynch, Kubrick-RIP, PT Anderson.)
Have to disagree on "The Fountain" though. It left me with some confusion, but I still thought it was quite beautiful.
