"Cloverfield"

Do we really need the horror of 9/11 to be repackaged and presented to us as an amusement-park ride?

The letters thread is now closed.

Born and Raised New Yorker here

And yeah, I was here for 9/11. I also just came from seeing Cloverfield. I thought it was a lot of fun! The monster was cool and the viral advertsing threw me off of the real story which made it fun x2.

Not everything is political or a statment. Sometimes a monster movie is just a fabluous fun monster movie.

Don't let the pretentious reviews throw you - it was worth seeing.

@birddulemerde

Why people believe it is a controlled demolition.

A minute before the collapse a camera catches molten iron pouring from the corner of the floor near the impact area. Jet fuel and burning office gear does not melt iron. Thermite and thermate produce molten iron. Thermite and thermate produce a white or light smoke just as is shown in the video. Thermite and thermate are used in controlled demolitions of buildings to cut through the supporting steel columns prior to the detonation of charges to knock the cut girders loose and cause the collapse. There is no other reasonable explanation for the presence of molten iron pouring our of the corner side of the building.

The only reason that we see the flow of molten iron from that part of the building is because the exterior wall had been dislodged by the impact of the aircraft. There were pools of molten iron in the basements of the Towers that remained molten for weeks. Most of the thermite or thermate charges were hidden from view, otherwise, how do you account for the volume of molten iron?

After the thermite or thermate burn was completed and the girders cut, the explosive demolition charges were set to knock the structure apart. This happens seconds after the flow of molten iron is seen.Huge beaems are hurled a hundred a fifty feet across the street and conrete is pulverized into a fine powder at the top of the building where the knietic energy would have been the least.

One of the beams that was cut with thermite or thermate is clearly visible in one famous photo of a fireman in the foreground in the debris pile and the melt along the edge or the beam is clearly visible. It didn't just shear or fracture, it was cut with melting heat. The angle of the cut is the same as is used to bring down buildings in controlled demolition.

You could get me to believe that some morons would hijack an airplane and fly it into a building, but i cannot buy them packing the building with thermite or thermate.

The molten iron doesn't make sense unless the building was rigged prior to the airplane hitting it.

Either you haven't looked at the videos or you think that steel girders just melt when you hold a match to them. Most of the official story is based on the steel being weakened by the heat with no mention or suggestion of it being melted. Because they know it couldn't happen without thermite or thermate which are used in controlled demolitions.

Well maybe they had a blast furnace from a steel mill up there.

All you have to do is go to youtube and do a search on theremite thermate and wtc or 911.

The country is run by proven liars and science has nothing to do with believing their lies.

The evidence was destroyed and "recycled" by people who should have known better.

Root of Godzilla vs. Cloverfield?

Godzilla - those who lay waste to our cities are likened unto a giant radioactive lizard. Which may be appeased by innocent children at times in order to save the day.

Cloverfield - those who lay waste to our cities are likened unto a giant crustacean. Which in order to save New York City, the authorities just had to nuke the city in order to save the day.

At least that is what I am gathering.

Well maybe JJ Abrams has distilled this whole 9/11 and the ensuing war on terror down to it's essence. The government must destroy American in order to save the day and defeat global terrorism or a giant crustacean, whichever you choose to believe in.

So I guess that makes JJ Abrams an artist again.

So I should get some dramamine before seeing this or just close my eyes?

I've read Rupert's "explanation" with great amusement...

Most of the conspiracy theorist community has abandoned the thermite/thermate claim long ago. The claims made by Rupert have been roundly debunked in several publications.

Youtube videos can indeed be convincing to uninitiates unfamiliar with explosive ordnance and/or structural engineering principles.

It's hardly surprising that "experts" making claims of controlled demolitions present their arguments to audiences of uninitiates and tend to avoid peer review by the relevent authoritative communities. Why is this?

Why do the vast majority of professional demolitionists *not* believe that the WTC was a controlled demolition?

@ birddulemerde

So you can't explain the molten iron pouring out of the building?

/keep pretending you have proven your point, it works for Bush

It's quite simple, actually

http://www.debunking911.com/thermite.htm

To the uninitiate unfamiliar with thermite/thermate, things might appear as you say.

Care to address the question I posed? Why do the vast majority of professional demolitionists *not* believe that the towers fell as the result of a controlled demolition?

cloverfield

We're told that "9/11 changed everything", but what did it really change? Did it change how we see and have our political processes unfold? Did it change our ideas and knowledge of what our military is instructed to do half a world away? Did it change our perceptions and demands of our news media? Or did it just change what we accept as entertainment?

Well, the ones "in charge" who ignored the many warnings of what was once an imminent attack upon our shores and civilian population are still in charge. The precious men & women who make up our military still find themselves living & dying in a horrible quagmire (to put it lightly) based on false, manufactured "intelligence". And our news media...?

As for "9/11... Never Forget", it appears the only thing people can remember is that falling buildings in New York remind them of 9/11. I guess if "Cloverfield" was set in Cleveland, it'd be a tour-de-force. And if it was set in L.A., we'd accuse Hollywood of squirting out another $25m fart.

Its sad that we let so much b.s. slide in reality, but we only express outrage at those who provide entertainment.

I liked the movie. It's an long overdue reinvention of the monster movie genre for the YouTube generation.

End of story.
