Do Not Overestimate the Public's Intelligence...
"Lions for Lambs" may be sophomoric, idealistic and a bit too obvious for you, but remember 46% or Americans surveyed last month still believe IRAQ attacked us on 9-11. They also believe FOX News is a legitimate news channel,George Bush is a man of God just trying to keep the world safe from terrorists, baby killers and "the gays", and the Dixie Chicks are communist Arabic, lesbian spies for Al Cady.
Robert Redford's biggest mistake was not simplicity, but failure to include enough sex,violence, nudity and NASCAR to draw in the right crowds. He has managed to make me pray for the success of a Tom Cruise film - something I never thought I would do.
