that's the title at the top of the page---
and I'm thinking-- how about a Jane Austen Salsa biopic?
he's got something .... something very very good... and from what I've read his performance here (particularly musical, opinions seem to differ as to his acting) is very very strong ... so, if you like music films, this sounds like a very enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours ... beautiful woman, fabulous singer ... so, it's a "musical biopic" whaddidya expect ... Dr. Zhivago?
Actually there's a HILARIOUS musical comedy starring Marc Anthony coming out on the 6th of this month called East Side Story.
It was made in the 80s, and it's very Fame meets the Bronx, but its just as much fun and the music is actually really good.
Marc Anthony is just a wee teenager in it, and he's a RIOT. His comedic timing is just fantastic.
There's your more Marc Anthony! With no J. Lo!
He played the one employee in Tucci and Shalub's Italian restaurant. He expressed a lot by doing very little. That's acting.
O my Lord!!!!
These letters are pathetic!! You really don't have much of a Latino readership, do you? One the readers confused Marc Anthony with Ricky Martin. Granted they are both Puerto Rican, but that is like confusing Bruce Springsteen with Justin Timberlake. Oh, well.
About the movie, both of them know how to act. Jennifer used to do it before she started singing, anyone who saw "Mi Familia" knows that. Marc is a good actor and a great singer. I don't think the movie needs to explain what Salsa is, you are listening to it, I don't understand what Zacharek expects. Do Rock and Roll musicals, or country biopics explain what country or rock and roll is? Do some research, for crying out loud. Salsa is still a world wide phenomenon, it is huge in France, and the Japanese have recorded Salsa albums. This "we don't know what these exotic people and their culture are all about" routine is so tired. Specially when Salsa was born in New York.
Know your culture! Realize that Latinos are part of it and have been for more than two centuries.
In Puerto Rico, Hector Lavoe mean Salsa Music, But in " El Cantante", Mac is singing for Jennifer, and she likes his way. No me. Today we are saving some $$, the pop corn is in my Tv table.
