In his most persuasive film yet, Michael Moore gives the U.S. healthcare system a full exam -- and offers up a grim prognosis.
  • Perception

I am trying to figure out why there is this perception that the USA system is better than other countries with free health care. The fact that we pay less taxes but extreme insurance premiums? The fact that doctors, and many semi-professional practioners, as well as insurance managers drive a Mercedes?

I have never been satisfied with the medical service I pay a huge premium for under a family plan. The complexities of billing and EBS statements are ridiculously time consuming with screw-ups often occuring. Service in an Emergency room is a nightmare of more paperwork ad-nauseum and long waits. Seeing specialists can be up to a six month wait depending on the specialist. The higher premium only seems to provide a lower negotiated price for the service but with deductibles and co-payments I still end up paying for the majority of the bill out of pocket.

It seems the only thing my high monthly premium provides is ridiculous paperwork and coverage that actually includes payments only when a catastrophic illness or injury occurs.

And this is the system we want to keep?
